Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Should I just walk out?

I found a new job and I feel the need to simply not show up for work at Sam's Club anymore after the way they've treated me after more than 14 years with the company - but I'm also still scared of burning my bridges.

It would feel soooo good to just walk out, though... What's the worst that could happen if I do that?

The company will rehire you back and you will have to act like it was your best decision to return.

14 years.... I have to agree with the person that said take a leave. Tell them you have to help take care of an aging family member, and use up that legacy time.

Amen. They won't even THINK of replacing you for many weeks after you're gone, then no one knows how to get anyone hired with Workday. Workday is useless. If your co-workers don't walk out with you, they are screwed no matter what day it is.

What's the point of a 2-weeks notice at Sam's? I know at my store they wouldn't hire anyone in those 2-weeks or even start training an existing associate.

Walk out. You won't be back. Company & co workers will not care once your gone. Now or later. Stop feeling guilty for putting yourself first after always putting that place first for nothing

The problem with that is you are not hurting the company just your co workers. Do the right thing and give a notice your co workers deserve that.

Take a Leave-of-Absence... just make up some silly reason. Then take the new job. If you don't like the new job, you will ( unfortunately ) have Sam's to fall back on.
If you like the new job, just don't go back to Sam's. ♥

I wouldn't worry about hurting your co-workers. They don't care about you. It happens every day, so I'm sure it's been done to you. If your new job can wait two weeks, then it shows them that you wouldn't do the same to them. But if they want you asap, just do it. It would be the best bridge you could ever burn.
