Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Used to be proud working at Sam' Club

One of the 3 basic beliefs:
Respect for the individual
What is that? We dont have that at our club anymore. We used to.
Member service: You should here the way certain management talk to members.
I'm surprised were still open.
Associates that care about the business are mistreated and have forced most of us just not to care anymore...
Its just a place I collect a paycheck for now..
Open door ? Why bother no-one cares...
I wish they did..
Instead of fixing the issues at our club to make it great again..we are told by certain management you can leave/quit
Why not fix the issues?
I'm not just talking about Block scheduling
There are Ethic issues at our club
Again, I used to be proud to say I work at Sam's Club
Now I'm just ashamed to tell anyone I still work there.

I guess im the oddball. I dont blame the club managers. They take their orders from home office. Why not support your club and your management staff. All this negativity is not doing anybody any good.

Sounds like 6431 and 8191. A good caring CM helps but their hands are tied. Do your job at all costs or you gone. It’s just another job. It stinks when the CM stays in her or his office all day and won’t talk to you. No one cares.Sad days indeed. Clubs mentioned are the best example of this I’ve seen in over 25 years with the company it’s a disgrace their still the CM’s.

I agree that Sam's Club used to be a great place to work. Everybody was on the same page and we worked as a team. No more. Mini micro management and intimidation have become the norm. The workplace has become hostile and every request is a threat on your job. The 3 basic beliefs aren't even given lip service anymore. Now it's every man for himself. Good luck to those who still believe they matter to this company.

@3djt MM are the worst and don't communicate in the least. The guy that was ours seemed afraid to even speak. Let alone talk to any associates. But he has no problem being a good little follower.
There was no direction or following of anything back in Sept of the "4" basic beliefs or core values. They don't even know or follow them anyway. They wanted cross training done so everyone could do everyone's job so when they "iced" people, they made their co-worker take up the extra work & do 2x more. It was all about preparation for eliminating more jobs. Nothing to do with any type of values or beliefs.

Used to be proud to work here, we have alot in common. Our manager is running the club in the ground. Over 30 associates have left since she's been here and a few of them 28 plus years. She has had ethics called on her more than 30 times. She has absolutely no respect for the individual and even the members complain to us about her. But nothing is done. They'll let the doors close and force 120 people out of their jobs instead of addressing this one individual. It's sad, but you just cant get anyone to care. Hope your resting in peace Sam Walton cause I think you would be ashamed of our club. Kokomo, In

Times they are a changing.

Last year just before September 2018 our MM sent an email stating very specifically club by club what they needed to do and what had to be removed. We had alot of stuff that was done by the associates to show support for the 3 Basic Beliefs and the 4 Core Values. The only place anything like that could be displayed is in the breakroom. Nothing could be anywhere a member could see or potentially see.

Sorry to say the three basic beliefs at our club , have been thrown out the door. I don’t know what to think anymore and I am the type who preached how good it was to work for Sam’s and it was very family oriented.
Now you don’t see our Gm, avoids you. It seems he had been given direction to get rid of X amount of associates that our long term. You can’t get a direct answer anymore its I will get back to you. Stay from our Ohio club.

What I think is funny at my club not one team leader or fresh lead has taken the test to be able to be a key holder. Never should have given them the money 💰 first. It’s not that they don’t have time . But why would you if they aren’t going to make you. Home office what are you doing to us.

There is no integrity or ethics at our club either. We are told lie after lie by our management team. If there lips are moving they're lying!!!

Same here. They are giving all this money to fresh, team leaders and mss. All I see is them working less and putting the work off to others. Our team leaders are getting about 20 extra hours a week . 27 years means nothing anymore.

Yup. We have the same at our club. I'm in CA. 3 basic beliefs have been gone for years. Ethics even longer. Cannot work for this company if you are an ethical person, obvious by the way regionals, market managers and club managers behave, or be respectful, offer great service or strive for excellence. Not valued attributes anymore.
