I’m speculating, but from what I’m reading here it seems that you are getting a BE in the hopes that you’ll get p-ss-d off enough to quit, and they will save money buy getting rid of you at no cost.
Friday, 85% of my team were rated BE, I was one of the lucky one that did not get BE. However, to me, it seems like more a strategic move to setup for the next round of layoff than a true mid-year review. Surely, some does deserves the BE rating, but 85% is beyond reasonable. Our division has been told that the company is not planning to invest anymore to this division, but it does not justify for that many people to get BE ratings
I know many good people today that got BE ratings today that did not deserve them. Just a very sad day.

I don’t think I’d take being laid off personally, but I would be extremely upset if I got BE. Somehow the opinion of people that know me matters more than a company layoff.
I’m a manager who just had to give someone a BE (who didn’t deserve it). I’ve been assured that this person will not be laid off. We had no BE’s laid off last year & I honestly can’t see that in our area this year either - I don’t think it’s a guaranteed layoff.
I got BE this morning. Not surprised. I'm a terrible employee.
Sounds to me if a building is half vacated than most likely is getting moved elsewhere such India, Poland, etc. Brooklyn building is same. Each floor is half vacated. Rumor is massive layoffs & announcement on Aug 19.

How can they possibly lay-off more people? There are very few people in Westborough MA. It’s like a ghost town most days. Is there a plan to all this or are they just getting rid of people randomly? It makes no sense.....
Nothing is 100% but It's extremely likely your days are numbered if you get BE
