Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Update me

Ok my DM isn’t talking. It’s about time I start hearing something about what’s going on ??? Anyone heard anything about Walmart’s ? I’m assuming they’ll never open back up for ordering. How long does the switch to their warehouses usually take? Any insider info from logistics of anything going down ??

In reply to a question asked below about what kind of people Kellogg kept.

I don’t think they took age, experience or education into consideration much at all honestly.

I think It was all geography. They used software to map out the area and generate the routes. Then picked reps based on their home location to minimize mileage to be paid. Each rep ended up with 30-50 within their area of responsibilities.

I don’t think other factors came into consideration at all unless there was overlap. Certainly nothing as unethical as some of the favoring the young and attractive that’s rumbled about on these boards.

Made up role, specific to GS. It allows him to move the 20 so thing year olds out of the field and next to him, to move up the chain. Not one single RAA has been over the age of 25, more importantly not one single RAA has been over the age of 40!! Nice job Mondelez. You’ve really positioned yourself well to be smacked in the face with litigation! Unless of course you choose otherwise!! Plenty of eyes all over this!!

Kellogg cleaned out all the “older” reps year ago! The downside to being a Keebler rep now is they were pigeon holed. They were offered the job, and if they declined they were not given a severance. The rep I know wanted out, wanted to go back and get a masters with his severance, but that wasn’t an option.
People need to ask questions when it goes down. Ever see anyone places in the role of RAA (retail administration assistant, GS sidekick) over the age of 40? How about over the age of 25? As if we are not paying attention, hahahaha!!

I can tell you they did not keep young at all!! It was all sales reps and the 2 that my area kept both had 20 plus years in.. it’s going to be seasoned sales reps who show knowledge across the board

Just food for thought. When Kellogg’s exited DSD, Walmart was the first account to go. After that was locked down everything else cascaded quickly.

You’re DM is most likely being kept in the dark as well. They’re not being told anything since they’re all on the chopping block as well. One Zone over a major metropolitan area and its extended geography for Kellogg’s had 6 DMs overseeing 12 man Sales Rep teams who each had at minimum 3 FT/PT merchandisers. That’s roughly 216 employees, when the exit was complete they kept 12... 5% were retained, you should be expecting something in the same ballpark, ESPECIALLY if they are modeling their exit strategy on Kellogg’s.

Also, in my experience with the industry, it’s not the calls you see scheduled in advance that should worry you, it’s the national calls which drop with 24hrs notice or less which should give you pause.

Best of luck to all of you.

I agree 100% with post a few down ..I think nabisco is going at it piece by piece to make the transistion smoother ..might be the one thing they took away from Keebler ..start with cao orders then lock them so we and stores can get all on hands correct then one by one lock them as items get ready to move to warehouse so orders will be more correct when flowing in...because we know on hands are jacked up and have been told that was biggest problem with Keebler transitioned when it was all done

Former Keebler merch here ..yes that is correct we always heard rumors about both , but we where told nothing we where just brought to a big meeting in st.louis a few months before given brand new iPhones and training educated on Pringle’s and Austin crackers take over .then a big mandatory conference call in February to tell us by August we would be gone ..only thing we ever sniffed was someone saying something is changing a few hrs before the call we thought maybe route changed or something but no..like all day we will never know anything untill mandated call for everyone

I think you know the reason!! I’ve been here 20 years and I can assure you that you will not find out about dsd ending on a town hall meeting call!! It will be a company wide conference call, they will go region by region with the HR manager! This has been the protocol for every previous mass downsizing.
They will offer packages and then they have to give I believe 30 days? Maybe 60? That will allow some to voluntarily leave. Then they will have calls from your direct report.
If you are waiting for “proof”, you will wait until the announcement is made...but really anyone out to be able to see whats coming...if they care to see!

Maybe Glen will tell us on the call!

I assume the same as you on Wal Mart orders, I think they're locked for good.
For warehouse time frame, take a look at Keebler: I know the Keebler rep in my area and this is what happened...
They had a conference call and assumed it was going to be about adding new products since they had added new trucks to the fleet and had just picked up Pringles, etc. It was quite the opposite, they were told they had 6 months before they'd be let go. I'd say 3 or 4 months in the stuff was already coming in on Wal Marts trucks.
BUT, maybe Mondelez is looking to have a more seamless transition and more will be done in the background on the logistics/planning side so that when they decide to announce it will be a shorter time frame. It's crazy how little information we are given about the Wal Mart switch to locked EDI.
You'd our team would at least have a BS story to tell us! Lol.... "X is why Wal Mart wants the orders EDI"
All we were told is that it was temporary for cutting down back stock, but now we are told it's ongoing for the time being and no reason is given.
