I heard Grades 11+ and 45yr+are the ones where filtering starts to happen for LR? How much of is this true ?

Go ahead, join. Only losers will join that company. I left cisco a while ago. It under pays, tech is outdated, it just buys companies, does bad decisions acquiring. Most businesses acquired fail. Cisco is using cash to buy companies, make money off of it. Some pay off, some sink. Cisco is not a good engineering company anymore. It is a mistake to join such a company. New hires who join, are naive. I was naive, I wasted precious years of life in a rotten company.
Layoffs are mostly based on relationships. Create strategic political relationships, and constantly post on social media. Don't waste anytime working.
Lets see based on my empirical observation. Small sample but here it is:
In my department last week two were eliminated. One 55 and another one 42. A replacement is a 25 year old.
Unless one is bringing specific skills that can be justifiable, high tech companies may not have a desire to keep people with seniority around. This is not only at Cisco.
Only the cleaning lady knows for sure.
