Thread regarding CVS layoffs

The direction cvs is heading...

Our RD said he wants every last customer using the aco’s. Regular registers are only to be used for when the aco’s have lines. Now you guys know his orders are probably coming from corporate, so read into this however you want, but is cvs trying to slowly phase out cashiers?

Listen, just read between the lines. If corporate doesn’t want the cashier standing behind the registers anymore then figure it out. Of course they’re not getting rid of cashiers altogether, because they can’t really do that, but that won’t stop them from trying. Amazon has been experimenting with cashier-less technology, Wal-Mart is expanding to more self checkouts and less cashiers. In this day and age with cvs cutting back anyway and anywhere they can, is anyone really surprised at this news?

Get over it everyone. Just work to what is in control and stop complaining. You don’t like it? The door is right there. Nobody is forcing you to work here. I’m tired of all of the negativity. Let’s celebrate the positives instead.

Of course they want customers to use the ACO. With the 30 hour cut that comes when they are installed there is only 1 person in the store and they need to do planograms, CFR, stocking, cleaning the bathrooms, taking out trash etc etc etc......

The BS is the comment about corporate “probably” giving the directive. I heard otherwise from the president of retail operations in a room of 2000 people. If your RD is saying otherwise he is doing it by his own agenda.

Two things... First, a lot of customers still prefer the human touch of an actual cashier, something corporate has lost sight of, in the face of constant cost cutting. And second, how or why is it “bs spreading” if someone is posting legitimate concerns? Not everyone is posting here simply for a reaction. Hours at my store have officially reached crisis levels, and are still falling and yes this has created concern over how low corporate plans to go. Some stores in our district are at bare bones hours and we’re in the nyc metro area. So if hours are going the way of the dodo bird, that’s not “bs” it’s the truth. And yes our RD specifically said he wants every last person using aco’s. That’s apparently not what you heard, but that’s what we were told.

RD are only interested in achieving a rank and a percentage. CVS has become a company within a company. Leaders care only about themselves and how they compare to other leaders. It trickles down. RD sounds like a Corporate sound bite. This RD is perfect for the CVS culture Merlo has created. One that is old fashioned and becoming obsolete. losing site of the customer

I was at the RLC. This was NOT the message communicated. They said (not verbatim) they do not want the cashier standing behind the checkout because customers will naturally go to them instead of using the ACO. Yes they want customers using them, but they are not phasing out cashiers. Once again the same 30 knuckle heads spreading bs here.

CVS wants to do away with cashiers and have only management run registers. Then they will spin it by announcing that cashiers at CVS are now making $20 an hour.
