Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Part of me thinks the severance would be better than staying. 10 years plus a full vacation bucket.

I thought it was 10 days for every year @ Schwab? 20 years = 200 days = just short of 7 months, plus the extra 2 months = 9months = NOT ONE YEAR?

Really depends on your skill set and department... software devs get paid enough that severance even at 54 it is like a mini vacation and since we probably find something within 3-6 months we would be fine... most of us live off mtn dew. They should ask for volunteers in departments that need to downsize. I think a lot of us would rather those who want an out, get it than flip someones world upside down.

I am going to assume you are grade 58 or 59. That means same person who started a month ago would walk away with 9 paychecks, just one less that what you get (not counting your vacation bucket that translates to 2.5 paychecks). So no, not really that great. If you are twenty years on, now we’re talking. Basically one year of pay, including the two months notification.
