Who else feels like people in their late 40s and above have been disproportionally targeted by these cuts? Shouldn't that be illegal? Is there anything that can be done about it?

I think of it more as salary discrimination. If you make more than your peers and have the same performance rating, you're the first to go. Experienced people make more money, so the savings are greater when you layoff a higher paid person.
Many support the idea that age discrimination exists at Schwab and seems to have accelerated over the last 2-3 years. But, this current layoff activity is focused on more senior level positions, so isn't evidence.
i would think a large company like schwab would be very carefull about the age brackets and try to equal them as best as they can .
Who do you expect to be at position of MD or Higher, recent college grads
That's been the standard for years in my department. I think there might be 3 in the org that are in their 40s.
