Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Paper thin walls at corporate about retail

So the higher ups were "selling" the idea of the majority of its retail stores to open at regular time for the "iconic launches" to keep solution specialists work life balance. The results are going to be instrumental for the next "excercise" of restructuring. The stores that opened early for the launches will get more staffing, the stores that didnt will be reviewed for profitability.
So far with online channel offering discounted fees and credits towards upgrades Verizon is looking to build a stronger online presence. Think of it as more of a concierge for physical sales (b2b is that way right now) and online/telesales for the majority of consumer channel. Brick and mortar for a saturated market is dying. Looks like 2020 is going to be a rough year if you're still in retail. Dont count on severance pay either.

Oh wow, stores going to reviewed for their profitability....thanks for that exclusive insider tip. There’s like 4 corporate stores left who cares. It’s all going to indirect where the hell have you been.

OP. What does that mean "Dont count on severance pay either."
Is the plan in 2020 to reduce the severance plan from a max of 35 weeks to 30 days?

80%? Doubt it. Just give it to nationals and indirects.

The main goal is for VzW to distinguish themselves as the 5G "Nordstrom" carrier compared to others. Corporate stores in affluent/tech areas with an same day delivery for mobile solutions. It's cheaper for Vzw to have indirect and big box stores for the average buyer, while offering a higher level of service to those who will pay more.

The goal is to weed out the the low performing sales reps by making quotas more challenging. Those who dont quit will be "coached out" of the company.

End game expect a facelift of vzw front facing employees that give great customer service and can achieve high sales goals.

This was the goal before I took my package.

Because 80 percent of the population can't tie their shoes, let alone remember a password or try to activate a phone, the general public are mostly incompetent nincompoops, we have people day after day wait for 45 minutes to find out how much their bill is, or why their Facebook password won't work ( even though it says right on their phone the password is incorrect ). Most are to lazy to read the instructions that tell them to call an 800 number to activate their phone, they would rather wait an hour because " it just easier for you to do it " and they are not " tech savy". Sure they may order their phone online but they show up in the stores because they can't be bothered to do anything else for themselves, 80 percent of sales reps jobs are doing service work, not selling. If Verizon were to close these stores customers wouldn't have a clue as to how to help themselves and many would port to a carrier that would be willing to help them.

Yeah yeah. Been hearing this BS for years.

Here's the thing: I have never gone into a store for anything. Nobody I know has ever gone into a store for anything. All they offer is overpriced phones and accessories and they slam the $hit out of any poor sap that is dumb enough to walk into one.

If you Google "Verizon Store" and go to the news tab, you get story after story after story of Verizon stores being robbed everywhere. Nothing but a liability.

You have these store employees that get the best pay and benefits any retail clerk could ever hope to get and yet they pi$$ and moan and want to unionize.

And yet, after all this, they keep them open. Why?
