Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Anyone else heard this?

I had a long time production customer call me yesterday saying they're losing business because of print quality. They have a 1000i and C75's, then added when he pressed the product service specialist as to why they no longer have the same print quality they've been used to for years; the Production specialist explained it was because Xerox is no longer buying toner from Fuji and they're sourcing through a 3rd party company. This made sense to my customer since the prints have what he described as a muddy-dull look where they can no longer achieve some color gamuts / profiles. While this came from a very reliable source, it still seems hard to believe...or not? Anyone else seen or heard this??

A C75 is not a production machine No one using a C75 should expect high quality graphics from it. It is really nothing but a 700 which has been around over 10 years. A C75 has no external RIP and is the cheapest version. Any 700 Family machine is not even close to Versant Technology. Time to get rid of the C75. C75 is a Dead Product. In my opinion a Versant will blow away and Igen in qualtity for most jobs. 100i still a good machine. Use good paper and profiles and you will get good results. All digital printing limitations. It is not a Press. The Iridesse is a Awesome machine Much improved over the 100i and Cannon and Ricoh cant come close to it for now.

This is nothing new. I am a recently retired production color technician with over 30 years at xerox. This started under Ursula Burns. We have Fuji design our machines but supposedly they charge xerox too much for consumables. The deal with Fuji is that xerox will purchase OEM Fuji consumables for 3 years I believe. It started with xerox color 250 drums and now encompasses all consumables from the 250 Family up to the xerox 1000/Iridesse. I can state from experience that the so called domesticated parts are c-ap. Long term customers who are early adopters can definitely tell the difference once they start getting drums and other consumables that are made in Mexico and China. The Fuji Asia market has no such problems since they can run the Asia market almost as their own entity and use only Fuji parts. Drums and developer housings from the C60 up to iridesse are nowhere near the OEM Fuji quality. Copy Quality is much worse. I cant tell you how many times there were major problems and downtime because xerox decided to switch vendors again and they messed up the part. I wonder how a top executive would react to a dealer who wanted to put and after market Chinese reapir part in his new 150000 dollar European luxury vehicle.

It is not “fake news” and all the elaborate explanations are useless. Here’s a hint for you; Can you spell “HP”?

we have had similar issue in UK , toner was being sourced 'elsewhere' with a different recipe, more dev than toner, so there could be some truth.

The genuine Xerox ink for ColorPress and C75 are definitely not a 3rd party. I know exactly where it is made and packaged. It is true however we use a 3rd party (Flextronics) for our drums on ColorPress and C75, but that was going on long before Carl Icahn came along.

Some fantastic invocation in the toner arena, luminous toner etc from Japan, being integrated by some Italian and French companies..... Yes most interesting developments.

No the toner and parts are all 3rd party. Ink is made in us or ukrane. They dont buy anything from fuji, there saving money for carl icann and his miami billionaire move.

Agreed, this is a tech hoping to make an excuse stick that keeps him from having to come back and fix what he doesn't know how to fix.

Back in the day, that would have been a VERY VERY short term situation, before the service VP heard about it and, shall we say, took care of the situation.

Toner from 3rd party is non-sensical. It is just a poor tech is probably under the pressures and maybe even not empowered to learn/solve and/or use possibly unnecessary parts to fix a printer.

Xerox toner is not the problem. Toner production is made by only a small handful of locations. Even HP contracts with Xerox or KM for toner. EA toner plants are big long term investments that are best used at capacity.

I'll be honest, my first thought is that the CSE/Specialist is using that as an excuse. I would highly doubt that is the case.

My second thought is this is fake news being generated by a disgruntled ex or the competition.
