Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

If contract is extended?

How many would stay till the end of the next extension? I think I would stay even though I would have 33 years by the end of this extension. I can't be discriminated against because of my age, I think the company would have to find me a job I can do.

Amazing how the trolls and know nothings suffer from oral diarrhea and spew how land lines will be sold. Yet...the company continues to build out the central office with fiber transport equipment. Smaller, faster, carries more light.

Btw- it’s “sent up the river” as in go to jail
The phrase you’re looking for is “sold down the river” as in an effortless betrayal
Get your insults straight, they lose effect when delivered so poorly
Sheesh

"Nobody has enough money to buy it". Its not google dude. Its some ancient unprofitable technology with a disgruntled, etitled workfoce.

More like no one wants it. Look what happened to Frontier it practically bankrupted them.

As much as Verizon hated the landline side the last decade it is now the backbone of 5g, nobody has enough money to buy it and Verizon will always need some sort of tech. SOMEBODY Will need to mantain all the plant. in the next 10 years the work force will be smaller but there will still be work to do. There isn’t enough contractors in NY to take on all this work lol they need us now more then ever with 5g and making deadlines with NYS( that’s why they extended the contract). We probly won’t see a strike in the future with the recent law change for paying unemployment after one week on strike. There’s a lot of old miserable techs on this site who would love nothing more then to see the union burn after they leave lol guess what it will NEVER HAPPEN!!!

There are so many stupid things said here. It is hard to pick one. But the tone makes it obviously from the same person, over and over, trying to be even more stupid than yesterday.

Anyway... to answer your question: No. I would not stay until the end of even this contract, but for some it makes perfect sense
