Cisco Contract Opportunities

Does Cisco hire permanent engineering employees in the US anymore? Left Cisco 7 years ago for greener pastures. This week I have been bombarded by recruiters for multiple contract opportunities at Cisco. Have zero interest in ever working at Cisco again in any capacity.

I am surprised by the number of contract positions being recruited for and by the car salesman like tenacity of the contract recruiters. They seem desperate for candidates.

If what I was told is correct, Cisco is under a hiring freeze, so that means that managers are having to resort to filling seats with contractors to get work done.

In my BU, I've seen 3 or 4 people quit. Can't backfill them due to the hiring freeze, so a contractor gets hired. Maybe in a year or two, if the contractor works out, they may convert them. Assuming that a hiring freeze isn't put back into effect and that the BU's numbers are good enough to get additional budget for additional headcount for the next fiscal year when they do FY budget planning.

I was contacted by a Recruiting company so after getting LR'ed from Cisco for a Contract Job in RTP for Cisco. No Relocation $$$ to move to RTP for what was the same job I did when I was LR'ed. All Cisco upper management wants is Slave Tech Labor. There are much Better Places to Work than Cisco.

Cisco treats contract employees worse than full-time workers. Good luck having a mortgage and family as a contractor.
