Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Late October Changes

There was a LOT of talk a few weeks ago about ASMs being let go, RTM changes. Etc.

Today is October 28, it's late October.

What's the news?

"With the CPO up and running you don't need as many."

CPO does everything the stores themselves did but worse and slower. Besides they were meant to replace the install office; in what world would any manager say ' oh yeah we lost Jim and Jenny but that's ok, the guys in the install office who spend zero hours and zero seconds a week on the floor can pick up the slack.'

That makes no sense.

I never thought the Specialists would be eliminated but I did say reduced. With the CPO up and running you don't need as many. They will be in one area and doing specialty for all departments. This way they can have half the amount and add more part timers. It will happen but not until the CPO is running smooth

Well November here no changes. All rumors about specialist

I don't think they will get rid of specialist or at least too any time soon. They are high on the pay scale, but they bring in the big sales so Marv is stuck with them. I can see them getting rid of RTM if it's not productive for them.

I can't see them reducing the specialist team. They are wanting more people on the floor to help customers. They would be shooting themselves in the foot. Home Depot has all their specialist. These are false rumors that people are putting on this sight to create panic.

There is a thread on Lowe's Reddit that has an SM saying there is a meeting on Monday to discuss changes, but no details. If you know anything spill it.😀 If you only have speculation keep it to yourself.

A Specialist covering multi departments, what could possibly go wrong Marv? They will will be compensated with cold pizza for all that you do!

The Specialist position isn't going away, it's being consolidated. The new position will be similar to the current one with multiple departments assigned as in kitchen, appliance and bath specialist, Flooring and Decor Specialist, Millwork and Pro specialist. Depending on store volume 25-50 percent of the specialist positions will be eliminated.

Lets eliminate Specialists, and essentially bite the “hand that feeds you”. Give me an “L”!

It does not surprise that CEO Marvin is dividing, conquering and eliminating the store work force right before the holidays. In the same breath say “ May God Bless” what a Fool! An SJW Socialist politician. How is the No Whiteness-BRG putting cash into the bottom line. Tell us again Marv!

Marvin might actually believe that employees are the company's greatest asset, but he betrays a fervent belief that payroll is also his greatest liability. So long as they value the latter it doesn't matter if they care about the former.

Carvin Marvin was believed to have said: "employees are our biggest asset" but that was just before the FSA, asssembler and internet desk went away so he contradicted himself. I wonder how a guy who jumps-around gets hired as a CEO (unless the board brought him in). He also said he does not hire his friends but he brought in his right-hand man Joe MacFarlane and he invited people from all the other places he has worked to come on board the U.S.S. Lowe's. The IT woman came from Target and Joe came from either Depot or Penney and there were others along the way. Not sure what will happen but people shop at Lowe's to NOT shop at Depot. If Lowe's is morphing into Depot what is the difference and what makes Lowe's distinctive? I question Lowe's commitment in all areas. Remember, Lowes.com crashed last year on black Friday. I have heard that online sales generates 20-30% of sales for Home Depot.

LOW stock says it all! Cannot get out of it’s own way. It’s on you Marv. Reward the sales drivers, corporate profits will rise in turn. Bob Tillman’s Empowerment Lowe’s Retire Rich was a reality. You Marvin have the socialists controlling employee playbook.

Fail. 3rd Party Delivery. The drivers, not all are garbage. What the stores payout in customer satisfaction dollars every month is ridiculous. Damages, product and homes. Rude. Lies. Daily BS not to do their required jobs. Reversing doors, installing ice makers just to name a few. In their defense they are micro managed by stop and time. Quality of the drivers, pay not so much.

"Mandatory company-wide manager meeting in 2 weeks."

Which is logical, as that is just a little before the quarterly financials are announced to the world.

BTW, what is the incentive to sell or go the extra distance. Just do enough until your exit. Great economy Marvin, you are a lousy business chess player. Sad that all of the sludge your pushing is right before the holidays. When your sole mission is profit at the expense of shedding a great employee base you will be the biggest loser long term.

Most of the "inside knowledge" here is pure c-ap. Seems a lot of folks are unhappy with the "accountability" they always ask for on the EOS. Just don't want accountability for themselves.

“asm's will eventually get reduced…”

The ASM restructure in the form of a reduction and title change already happened. Why would they do it again?

Again, Lowe’s staffs the same way as Depot, based on store volume. I don’t see Lowe’s/Marvin rewriting the playbook on this one; to do so wouldn’t be “Depot-like”.

That's a great way to let people claim unemployment en masse. That means the company loses money. That makes no sense. Also soon enough that policy would mean literally all non specialists would be paid no more than minimum wage in some places which is absurd.

It you're going to spread fiction at least give it some logic and internal consistency.

Mandatory company-wide manager meeting in 2 weeks. To sum it up briefly the remaining Specialists will be maxed out at $17 per hour(excluding kitchen designers) any other non-management employee making over $15 an hour will be gone by end of fiscal year. How do I know, it's easy I know people in corporate and after a few stiff drinks they say things they probably shouldn't. Many of them aren't pleased with it either.

asm's will eventually get reduced. the bottom line and goal is to have stores run with as little staff as possible with dept supervisors doing most of the work and having to be the whipping boys.

They are waiting for the week of the earnings release, which they expect to be bad. The announcement of layoffs will bump the stock up a bit.

The specialist consolidation is coming and that's a fact. is it this week or next month I don't know, but it will be soon, the store managers and specialty ASMs already have graded the specialists and have determined who will stay in position and who will be let go and told to apply for another position(at reduced pay).

the news is alot of people on here are disgruntled former associates who were fired, laid off or quit. and i will get downranked by them to make this info appear false. they cant direct their anger at corporate so they spread disinformation on here instead as an attempt to destabilize—but all it does is hurt the people that are just like them. we already know rtm is changing drastically. lol. pilot program was conducted...marvin said it would be app based....he said it was a non-productive position which angered many... rest of hours will be made up on the sales floor. this is a directive for a lot of what will be happening for non-customer facing associates because corporate is trying to squeeze payroll on the sales floor and has no clue what the workload is for anyone who is "in the back". so they believe they can "do their job" and then come out on the floor.

little by little stores without self checkout will get it. little by little stores that have in house delivery will go 3rd party. most information on here is patched together from things that marvin says in townhalls and podcast.....looking at the past to determine the future.....pilot programs that get talked about etc. etc. most often no real concrete info about restructure comes out on here until a couple days before the shoe drops.
