@8nwe...how would we know if any executives left, since we have so many. The recent T5 "flattening" had no impact on the many execs. I've never seen so much Sr mgmt in my 30+ years!

  • then like clockwork in the aftermath the stock [for any company actually] goes up. so if honeywell FIFs you don't sell the stock right away in anger. wait a week and you'll sell higher.

If you hear a director or above tell you everything is fine or no one's position is in jeopardy start packing up.

The most common sign of a layoff coming is that you work for Honeywell in the U.S.

The most obvious sign: Executives confirm layoffs are coming.

Your company gives you a 'non-negotiable' job offer. ...

A WARN notice has been issued.

Your company is hiring too fast. They suddenly decide to expand the team and hire 2+ people to do the same work as you, when you know there's not enough work for 3 people

There's already been a round of layoffs.

Internal job postings get taken down.

Dire earnings reports or missed revenue goals. This should be at the top of your early warning list

Executives leaving in droves. Your boss leaves under normal circumstances but is not replaced.

Your boss spends hours working alone, creating or editing documents – maybe spreadsheets listing the employees who are definitely staying, the people who are definitely getting laid off and the folks they're not sure about.

All talk of long-range planning is forgotten. You can't get your manager to respond to email messages about projects they cared desperately about just a few weeks ago.

Risky pivots or strategic gambles. ...

Hiring freezes. ...

Bad press. ...

Budget cuts. ...

Your boss is being shady, management will also lie to your face before layoffs are announced.

Your manager asks for your advice on updating their LinkedIn profile.

Managers spend more time than usual in HR. 1:1 invite with no explanation

Your manager asks you to write your job description and give it to them.

Lessening of responsibilities and workload with no logical reason

A freeze on pay increases and bonuses – even pay raises and bonuses that were previously approved.

Managers are hidden away in conference rooms all day long or stay in their offices with the door closed.

Scheduled projects are put on hold. You can ask your manager "Just so I understand, why is the project going on hold?" Watch your manager as they answer you – their body language is more important than their words.

A freeze on spending in general – even for ordinary items like office supplies or snacks for meetings.

less work being given.

Lots of “knowledge transfer” sessions. You are shadowed in your work responsibilities, or asked to document things quite thoroughly.

manager went from “I need your best” to just “do what you can and get it done”

less design work and more bug fixes

they suddenly decide to expand the team and hire 2+ people to do the same work as you, when you know there's not enough work for 3 people

you are asked to implement a feature for a product that you know is secretly going to be retired soon

you completed a PIP but your manager tells you HR has been "too busy" to sign it off

if you have any company devices at home, you're asked to bring them in the day-of for some bs reason

Project ending. A project is ending or has completed and there is no more work to be done, or not enough to keep full staff. This can be seen a mile away though.

Googled Layoff and these were the top hits.

We have been seeing attrition as well. Experienced people. No new work. Getting impossible to deliver the products because the parts are all obsolete.

People start leaving on their own! Had multiple really great people up and quit just recently here at PMT. Things are starting to look scary....

Fed pumping billions into banking repo markets nightly, companies buying back stock, insiders selling stock, record consumer debt, record govt debt, company earnings weakening, over valued stock market, greedy executives, out of touch politicians, on both sides of the aisle, etc. The list goes on and on.

You start getting invited to conference calls at 6:30 am to hear your a–hole president read off a script about being organized for growth.
