Which is why there are 30 A330 MRTT flying versus what 4 or 5 new Boeing based tankers.

It was not the software engineers regardless of how much they are paid. This was and is a System architecture and design problem. Further Boeing did a proper design on Tanker program which was the starting point for migrating the product.

Sure is a good thing HW doesn't look for cheap foreign labor, it could hurt quality.....Oh wait !
Executives made a lot of cash with this move and they get to keep it.
The masses will pay the price through various reductions.
This behavior will continue until clawbacks are much stronger. Executive pay retention needs to be linked to long term performance.
The outcomes of moving products out of the developing group was/is well understood. This continues today as we work to get out of the industrial manufacturing business.
Complex products are difficult to move and the learning curve is paved with caskets.
Think about this when considering the human impact of closing an aerospace site. Is the savings worth k–ling people?
That is what is at stake.
Maybe it be better to sunset or sell/spin.
Unfortunately they know this, but their short term greed is too strong for them. They are willingly participating in this madness to feed their own fat bellies.
