Being former employees we all know it is as shady as they come. I couldn’t imagine a worst work environment. The theme that keeps popping up is that each of us had the worst boss experience. However for all of us to have experienced the same shady practices tells us that it’s the culture. Of course they’ve wasted millions on media fluff and advertising. Bottom line is they’re deep in debt without a paddle now they’ve run aft all their most talented and knowledgeable employees. Which btw are now pushing the competition to even more heights.

They probably do have people monitoring all relevant news as well as forums and social media networks. It’s their job to look pretty. Unfortunately for them they cannot do much regarding forums. They can send someone to make a post or two, which usually gets ignored and downvoted. They can try to report a post, but unless the content is illegal or it violates the site content rules, they have no grounds to ask that. They can try to bully a website owner into doing so, but sites of this size usually have their own legal teams and don’t get intimidated that easily (in case someone hasn’t noticed, Verizon board is a just a drop in the thelayoffcom sea).
On the other hand, there is a bunch of other reasons sites like this have rules and nuke posts. Mostly to keep a healthy conversation going, but also to prevent the scenario in which they get the court subpoena to reveal your identity in case someone wants to sue you for making a libelous post.
Someone posted this recently on another forum board here, think it clarifies a lot:

this site is aggressive about removing posts that might be considered libelous. That means just about _any_ mention of individuals below the top 5 or so.
Good luck using obscenities and even some other words around here: f—, sh–, damn, a–, etc. The site’s software filters morph them to something less quotable.
The top 5 are probably considered “public figures” under US libel laws but even then they’re legally protected against misleading statements presented as factual. They are not, however, legally protected from harsh opinions.
Harsh opinions abound here.

these are the main site rules: don’t swear, don’t name names or impersonate others (ok to name c-suits), don’t post threats, don’t throw personal insults, don’t discuss race or politics.

Should I stay or should I go now?
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go, there will be trouble
And if I stay it will be double
So come on and let me know
This indecision's bugging me
If you don't want me, set me free.

IT jobs are being outsourced, automated, and employees are quietly being converted into cheap temp workers. Best to avoid IT at Verizon.
