Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

More Hell to come. Time to change

With the past and recent furloughs, working for NS will only be worse and worse. The higher senority people will pay one way or another. To send a message to the company, NSwide people need to agree to mark off collaboratively each month and increase it as time and situations get worse for everyone. For example: let's start with veterans day 11/11. Most workers are veterans anyways and have the biggest balls; so mark off sick system wide for all shifts. For the pussies, they won't fire you for one day This sends a warning. After that increase it to two days and so forth until the company begins to changes their ideas. What's to lose? You ALL are already losing so it's only gaining at this point. Spread the word to as many people as you can as you are doing your part to save your job and what you've earned

Union Rep, may i ask what union you represent sir? You seem to be making a stand but where do you hail from? Not asking for your name but are you mechanical or transportation, and what area do you work in?

Hey Union Rep..Do your part and go to work and do your job like the rest of us and quit embarrassing yourself and what you supposedly stand for.

If you like your situation and the future trajectory of the company then dont mark off, but dont complain when your situation and company circumstances get worse

Yeah. Dont lose a days pay. 250 BUCKS IS WAY MORE IMPORTANT. Oh wait. No it's not. Solidarity is more important. You cant get a life on 250 taxed dollars. Here's a better idea. Everybody work that day and take all the money and pool it to buy a lawyer. Your going to need one to keep your jobs because your monthly dues cant buy the same lawyer the railroad can. And the solidarity present that is represented by a man that says get a life to someone willing to sacrifice a days pay for the greater good? Well brother you dont deserve to call yourself Union.

Lol look at the responses here that's why the unions have no power the people in them have no courage to stick together and the company knows this

When your paycheck is short $ because you listened to some dumb*ss, contact the brainchild behind this grand scheme and maybe he will help you pay your bills. You can't beat big business. I've been in a union shop for 23 years and whatever the company is going to do has already been decided. It's a noble idea but lacks any productive outcome.

FYI. You can get a doctors note at a pharmacy minute clinic. Just an option in case anyone needs to mark off to be with their families when forced OT on a holiday. I’ve heard of several people simply telling them you have diarrhea or something, getting some Pepto bismol with a doctors note, and only paying like $10.

We all have insurance so get a doctor's note. The most we have to lose is a co-pay and a days worth of pay. We all waste our money on the powerless union anyways that dont do much for us. It's not about the money, it's about sending a message and re-gaining our unity and strength. The company is using srewd business tactics so why can't we do the same? And being that this isn't officially union organized they have no one to go after. The limited risk make me think it's worth trying at least once. Mark off sick 11-11-19

Marking off 2 days will not save the company $500 if you were worth your money. The point is so the company looses money. Trains delayed. Capacity shrunk. Money lost. Bingo.

No matter what we do, we won't break the back of NS. Bottom line is to just do your job, because whatever happens has already been decided. Besides, two days off is over $500. That saves them a lot of money in wages they won't have to pay! I don't like the way things are shaking up either, but that's the way it is. The day of the strong union is over. Take care brothers and sisters.

Sounds like you are already laid off so for you to give this advive you have nothing to lose. (You've already lost)

Nobody. For one, if you mark off sick they will make you bring a doctors note. So instead of hunting you will be in the doctors office faking sick to get a note. No thanks.

11-11!!!!!!! Let’s do it!!! I like this idea. Plus it’s hunting season, a bad day in the tree stand beats any good day at NS.
C’mon guys let’s do this!
Mark off 11-11! I’m in!!! Who’s with me
