The color of your skin, religion, s-xual preference etc doesn’t mater, if you are an American you are Single out and Targeted and are either let go or run off. If you do accept the packed, start working on it ASAP because there are a ton of hopes to jump through with snail mail of packages which advice you to seek all sorts of layer advice. Get all the phone numbers you need before handing in your phone because once you’re gone the package never arrives and you’ll call all over and nobody will seem to know anything including HR. It’ll get drag out and drag out until you’ll miss the dead line,

@11Trx40f-1syp new shifts start 1/12/2020, this was announced weeks ago in an email, preferencing begins this week, we will be notified a few weeks later what our shifts will be and then they begin 1/12/20. Perhaps you should check your email. It went out about a month ago.

I worked at a center that was getting renovated and we still got closed...we don’t own the buildings we lease them...the renovations were by the building owners not Verizon, to attract new tenants because they knew Verizon was moving out soon.

Um so if u have been here long enough then u know that layoffs don’t mean they won’t still hire...our IT peeps, HR reps and some analysts got offered vsp at the end of last year. I assumed they were cutting those positions but nope new people took their place....people with less tenure aka less pay. The company is trying to cut what 4 or 6 billion dollars by 2021? If ur training new hire classes, then u may be training ur future replacements. Why else the huge push for TRG utilization? For a monkey to do our job. New hires get paid $16/hr and I’ve been with the company long enough to make $25/hour and have 5 weeks vacation...why not replace me with cheaper labor who gets less paid time off?

Been hear a long time, I've seen stores remodeled and 2 months later they were converted to agents, had a friend move from a store to a call center, only to be severances 5 weeks after taking the job, because the call center was closed, not to mention I was 2 rounds into interviews with the call center for a supervisor role, and the call center closed 3 weeks after my second interview...this company will pull some shady sht to cover their azz...it's all about the bottom line, as for your extra week of vacation, they can tell you you're going to get three extra weeks , all the time knowing you won't be around to be able to use it!!!

If Verizon Wireless was in such bad shape, why relocate Elgin to Rolling Meadows instead of just shutting down the center when they had a chance? Northern Illinois isn’t a cheap place to operate, and yet Rolling Meadows is here (and still here) while Charleston, Huntsville, Little Rock, and Lincoln are all shuttered.

Tech support was almost laid off!

The fact that our shift bid was suppose to start in Oct, then Nov and now we still dont know when the new shift will start says alot.

Just an FYI, even knowing that a center will close, upper management will continue to renovate, upgrade and install incentives to keep the employee happy, the culture alive, and the numbers up. That is a FACT!

I've seen a million dollar health club installed in a building we did not own, where the lease would expire in year, and a loyalty and business call center (mini/small centers mind you) were known to be shutting down.

Fact- Verizon is extremely profitable in the 3rd quarter. Q4 figures to be even better.

The numbers only look good because of the reductions...these are all fake numbers. At some pointc they will no longer be able to fudge the numbers by cutting.

VZ isn't the only company like this...the entire NYSE is all pumped up by fake numbers.

Want some real facts? Here they are:

Fact 1: Verizon had reduced headcount from 235,000 to 144,500 between 2007 and 2018. A loss of 90,500 jobs.

Fact 2: Verizon has a $106 BILLION in debt through 2018. Debt from dumb acquisitions including paying an over inflated, top of the market $130 billion purchase of wireless from Vadaphone in 2015.

Fact 3: Verizon has been unsuccessful in everything except telecommunications. That includes failed ventures in over the top television, media, vehicle tracking to name a few. All at a tremendous cost both financially and loss of jobs.

Fact 4: Verizon, in all its wisdom, continues to raise its dividend to shareholders. Now at $0.62 a share, their quarterly dividend obligations to shareholders is now a mind boggling $2.5 billion per quarter or $10 billion per year.

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid son, this mega corporation is nothing more than a human meat grinder and sooner or later they will chew you up and spit you out.

Not a union person, but if you think any of your facts would prevent you from being laid off or from centers being closed, you are DREAMING. I've been around a long time and I have seen this company lay off people with very short tenure. This company still has a boat load of money to slash before the end of 2020 and it WILL come from it's biggest liability - the EMPLOYEES. FACT.
