Wave 3

Why do people keep mentioning wave 3? Are you telling me there'll be more of this c-ap sometime soon?

I'm in management at Optum. Expect regular reductions every quarter through the end of 2020. There will be continued moves to offshore as much as possible.

Ok. So whoever posted, that layoffs are common in tech companies and tech co's cut the bottom 10% every year isn't working in reality or anything any Board of Directors would allow. Layoffs and turnover cost lots of unproductive money, such as what UHG and Optum do cost shareholders a ton of money and shows lack of leadership planning versus any reflection of the employees affected. Optum has consistently hired and fired at Wim and its not considered a center of excellence which is why there are a lot of strong competitors vying for their employees and market share and we read about regulatory actions! The good strong companies value employees, find creative ways of planning and don't turn their staff over like what is being reported on this sight!

If it was about cutting underperforming people then great. It isn’t about that. It is about people lacking emotional intelligence and product knowledge trying to look good for their bosses.

Does anyone know what areas these areas will affect? Housecalls, CCM, IT?

I hate layoffs as much as the next person, but you all do realize this is common for any modern technology company? The bottom 10% get axed every year at some of these larger tech companies. Optum had gone far too long without any layoffs & a lot of the skills have stagnated. I'd expect layoffs to happen every few quarters indefinitely. If you dont like it, look for a job outside of tech.

When this started in October, someone in the know posted that in addition to the October layoffs, a wave in November and a wave in February. Don’t know who they were but I guess they knew what they were talking about.

That is correct. There is a phase 3 Q1 2020

That would be consistent with the RIF cycle from last year. November '18 and February '19.
