I think most in the trenches know whether their positions can be reduced or can be automated. That's the occupational hazard of the corporate world, it's Darwinism and people at the MD level and above get axed too when their ideas and knowledge become obsolete and get replaced by their younger and cheaper underlings. If you don't get axed this time around, then you need to have some self reflection where you think your function will be 2,3,5 years from now and start making moves. If you want to be a non evolving lifer and be perpetually be taken cared off then you need a city job where you actually get rewarded for it. Whining about it today but taking no future action when you've seen history repeat itself is pointless

If I leave it would mean I deserve to be separated. I am over 50, working more than 20 years for BNY. I one of the knowledgest workers of the team. I will be out soon, may be even this round. So what a reason to quit? I will get my money. This what mean analytical thinking.

This is not always true. In my group our department manager start with more strongest one. This is not my personal opinion. A lot of my coworker think the same but just afraid to speak up. We where unlucky to have department manager from India. So he need to create more Indians stars. This is his concept and this how he can bring more Indian "stars" using VISA. Most likely this is his assignment so this is why neither human resource or ethical do nothing about it. So he requested BE and separated the most knowledgeable and experiences people to free the way. Just politics nothing else.
