Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Did your job go to the Phillipines or India?

How many jobs did UHG send to India and the Phillipines?

According to this article, Wells Fargo laid off 26,500 employees and many of those jobs went to India and the Philippines.
Wells Fargo hired an additional 7,000 workers in the Philippines, in addition to the 4,000 employees already in the Philippines.
According to this article, Rep. Cindy Axne (D-IA) questioned Wells Fargo CEO Tim Sloan about Wells' outsourcing of American jobs to India and the Philippines.
We'd like representative Axne or a representative from Minnesota, the home of UHG, to question David Wichmann about the tens of thousands of jobs UHG outsourced to India and the Philippines.
Please ask your elected officials to hold Wichmann accountable for the tens of thousands of jobs UHG sent to India and the Philippines

I was terminated for being a telecommuter and my job is going to the Philippines. We have actually hired some Philippine employees in the recent days and they are already taking over our responsibilities and we are being pushed out even though my term date is in March. This company is going in the wrong direction losing dedicated, hard working employees and bringing in cheaper, less reliable Philippine employees. Philippine employees call out unexpectedly more than any other country. The company can hire approximately 2.7 Philippine employees for what 1 US employee would cost. But, you get what you pay for. It's sad to see the company I've been devoted to for over 20+ years fall apart due to corporate greed and ignorance. I loved all my different jobs over the years and worked with some really great and talented people. However, I now find myself hating going in to work and can't wait for work to be over. If you're reading this then you're apparently concerned about your future with this company. My advice is start looking for employment elsewhere and run from this company as fast as you can. Especially if you are a US employee, your days at Optum are numbered.

Why Ireland? Although I have noticed that "IT Help Desk" reps sound Irish...

Why is this so quiet? We’re into thousand+ job loss at UHG/ Optum in Oct/Nov with who knows how much of that yet going overseas.

Labor arbitrage is real and this is not a new thing for UHG. Options are India, Phillipines, and Ireland. Also watch for more jobs being spun up in Puerto Rico. One of the largest capital investments in 2020 is the automation program - my guess is within the next 5 years we begin to see OGS workforce shrink due to real gains in this space. Lot of low value, repetitive work currently being done manually offshore by armies of people.

Two weeks ago the billing department for Optums specialty pharmacy (formally Briova) was let go. 40+ people from one office. All their jobs were outsourced to the Philippines.
