Don't think I've seen it mentioned here yet: the Kmart in Hayward, CA, is confirmed for closing January 2020.

too bad worked there twice in 75 and 80 in footwear another good thing of the past gone assume housing will be built there eventually
@1Xpat was referring to the Hayward and Concord Sears, the only 2 Sears stores currently remaining open in the area. But yes, not quite the right thread for that.
All stores that pay lease on the land that the store is on, such as San Bruno and San Jose are being liquidated, but ones that own the land such as Hayward and Concord are being kept with the exception of Richmond as someone bought the whole mall and didn’t want Sears in the new renovation. So really if Hayward and Concord close that will truly be when the whole company will fall as they are Top 25 Stores. Unlikely though, as their little less than 150 Kmart and Sears stores are bringing profit to the table.
I was told that the Hayward Kmart was closing and their last day would 01/05/ 2020 the only thing that I did not like about Kmart is that if there was something in their newspaper add and you would go into the store they would not have the.item in stock and it happen to many times that's why they are closing you were better off going to Walmart knowing that what you are looking for they would have it in stock

Not surprised it's closing in Hayward. It like walking into a store 50 years ago, but instead of being new, it's got 50 years of wear and tear. Just old and tired.
I saw it advertised that it was closing on a billboard on the side of 880.
@eyq Not to be rude, but without any links, it might not be true. Someone posted 2 Weeks ago that Kmart Guam was sold. Never happened. At least when I posted that Camarillo CA was closing, I provided a link. NOt Saying your story is false, just Saying it's not verifiable yet. :)
Well California has about 24 stores, so even though it i the largest state, it is kind of "proportionally overrepresented", if you compare to other states. For example, CA has about 38 million people and about 24 Kmarts. Texas has 27 million people and 1 Kmart, and IL has 12 million people and 1 Kmart. NY has 20 million people and about 7 stores.

No links that I can find yet, but the employees have already been informed in the store, and they already have signs up saying they are no longer honoring national sale prices, etc. Pretty sure this was an owned store.
