Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Is anybody still giving it their all here?

Considering everything that has happened, the way this company has been treating us, I'm curious how many of you are still giving it your all and how many are just doing the bare minimum to get through the day?

I'll start, I haven't done beyond what I really had to for over a year now. Don't get me wrong, I do my job, but that's it. I used to go above and beyond, but not anymore. If you treat me like c-ap, don't expect my best in return, simple as that.

It’s getting very damned hard to keep caring. We’re having engineering resources culled off our product all the time, the roadmap never gets implemented-basic asks are three years away, only VP escalation can get a feature done, we stopped regression testing so loads of “supported” features don’t work, documentation is fairly tale like in its accuracy, features aren’t implemented across the product range, but purely done on a case by case basis for big deals, etc etc
It’s almost impossible to sit down and have a design discussion with a customer, because all the foundations of your solution are built on quicksand.

If you are giving more than 20%, you are a s—er. Get in line behind the execs. Coast, lie, and steal the shareholders money.

Cisco's environment excites corporate drones and politicians. Anyone that enjoys sitting in useless meetings and political battles thrive at Cisco. It's like 1970s Soviet Union in San Jose.

Cisco is a place where where you came from and who you know is almost the only things that matter. Frankly innovating can be hazardous to your health as it can bring unfriendly attention. So this atmosphere cannot excite anyone except those highly connected.

I think everyone is coasting on auto-pilot. Just act excited, and be sure to fill out all TPS reports. Reports come first - innovation and customers are secondary.

I was a loser to rot in that company for years. I left it, and feel really happy. It is a rotten place. People do 11-3 kind of seat warming jobs except in handful of teams.

I'm super-excited.

Does that count?
