Thread regarding Ford layoffs

If no PRP, how to get SRD?

If there is no PRP because managers wish to be more "selective" about reducing the workforce how does one get selected for SRD?

I only ask because those who got shoved out under SRD received in many cases 9 months salary. If I we're just to retire without PRP then there is no severance package.

I'm tempted to brown nose less and even annoy my manager without doing anything too foolish. Does this make sense?

Try working really hard, get good reviews, work 10 to 12 hour days. That worked for me. I’m out with a nice severance.

Try submitting a scathing Pulse survey this fall - worked for me.

"you don't find SRD, it finds you" LOL
I asked if I could take the bullet for someone getting SRD'd, since they wanted to stay and I wanted to go. Was told no.

SRD is complete ford is left with 25% to many people. Most work is outsourced, remaining workers track progress.

Things have changed at Ford over the last few years. A person with only a few years in should quit if they aren’t happy. A person with many years in would be crazy to walk away empty handed if they can hang on a little longer and get retirement and maybe a wad of cash.

Grow a pair of balls and quit if you don't like working there.

At MS&S I.T. all hands last week, LL2 stated that "2020 headcount will be flat". I interpret that to mean that there will be no SRD for our organization.

Everyone knows there was an SRD this year. That is obvious.

This discussion is more interesting – what is going to happen in 2020. Is another SRD more likely than a PRP? Has anyone heard anything?

I believe it is about getting a lump sum bonus/package when retiring. This bonus has existed for years but has gotten smaller for GSR - ll5. There seems to be a concern it may be dropping from 75% salary to no bunus at all.

SRD is over, so what is this about?

9 months is the same as the PRP. I am okay with that.

If you have been close and loyal to your manager just be honest about your desire to leave. Hopefully you will be selected. The worst thing would be pushed into a deal where you had to do something to be let go the following year.

Health of family issues might help make your case more compelling

You don’t ‘find’ SRD, it finds you 😄

Seriously, don’t worry about it at this point. If you have 20 or more years in, consider yourself of the bubble no matter what your rating. Just keep learning new skills, and keep soft looking for another job or start transitioning to another career - just in case.

Other than that, just keep being you. But, yeah, if you were brown nosing or taking on. A lot of extra work & putting in huge hours, just stop already. It is not worth it, as many that read & reply on this board have already said - they were highly rated, kisser up to management, and work a ton, and still got sh– canned anyway...

It’s hard to know how to get SRD’d because the way people are selected appears to vary each time. There have been times when it’s based on performance but the most recent was not. It appears that the last SRD was high performers who were approaching a pension milestone with a few random people sprinkled in. Apparently they were selected by a third party consulting firm. It was kind of the opposite of giving retention bonuses to high achievers who were approaching retirement.

IMO Need retention bonus for high achievers that are of retirement age
