How customer "centric" scheduling looks in my store.... 3 employees in the millwork department on Thursday, then 1 employee on saturday and Sunday. If you work at night you are lucky to see 3 or 4 red vest on the floor. Plumbing 1 person scheduled for the day. Lumber rarely covered.
We have been on this new "centric" scheduling for over 3 months ,yes it is not employee friendly but it is truly terrible for customer service and the apperance of the store. Customers are commenting on how hard it is to find an employee. I would like to tell them to stop looking because no one is scheduled.
The "new" department managers dont work in departments even when they are scheduled as coverage. I have started to look for a new job. After being here for 16 years and going thru all the things Lowe's has done to its employees Chinese overtime to department specialist, job eliminations, elimination of dept.
Managers and then hiring department supervisors a year later, eliminating HR and loss prevention and now scheduling that allows no weekends or 2 days off together to its full timers not to mention cutting part timers hours to zero hours. Managers with very little people skills or for that matter management or leadership skills.
This new customer centric schedule is good for one thing...cutting payroll, which is also cutting customer service.
