I heard from the union office in Carnegie that they will offer a triple EISP if the union agrees to allow the company to withhold the 25 shares of company stock to the employees

In our contract if you are under 55 years of age and do not have 30 years you get a 6% penalty per year under the age of 55 maxing out at 30 percent. Currently my penalty is about $140,000 because I am around 51 years old.

What does no age penalty mean? you can start withdrawing without the early withdrawal 10% tax?

I will take the eisp 2200 +10+40 tomorrow a. m. If they offer with no age penalty

If the company wants to make an offer, they will add an incentive along with time to age and service to clean house. They will not offer EISP with $2200 +40+10, no one will take it we are better off staying until 2023. They offered 6 & 6 way back which was beneficial for both sides.

I don't think interest rates will be going back up for at least a few years so the high lump sum we have now will be there for quite some time. if no offer ill wait until there is. im not doing verigreedy any favors. especially after the great offer they gave the company. no offer, no go!

Eisp would be a benifit, even if 10 plus 2200 yr.. maybe one will come, but IMO if nothing heard by first week Novemeber, the odds this year are greatly reduced. The interest rate drop since before June to current, and projected drop in dec your lump increased for most between 100k and 150 prior June jump, Jan 1st will have the 0.0 reflection and should see that reflection Nov 1st looking ahead. If you stay 3 years and make 300k dont forget taxes, it's almost a push in difference. Rolling into A IRA is tax free, those looking to stay for contract, if you can, increase your 401K to make more capitol., also consider fed may raise interest mid next year or 2 years from now, and you will drop lump sum..many things to consider. Also as far as EISP, VZ may see the rate now as a incentive to not offer and HOPE people will leave as a result. Anyone expecting one can wait to end of year to see, or look at 0.0 rate in Jan as a eisp and go. Everyone needs to look at all scenarios and possibilities and do math and look at difference of earnings over time vs poss interest rate hikes and effects on lump and use fidelity's calculator on 401k if you increase more and diff in 3 years and calculate what's best. Good luck to all, staying or planning to go..make sure you do what's best, and remeber you not only have responsibilities but a life as well.

But in 3 years interest rates could be climbing and you will lose 45000 on every quarter point hike, so you lose 135000 on three rate hikes to your lump sum,and who says a eisp is a definite in three years. If you have over 30 years take the money now and run.

If it’s 2200/10 I’m staying. We make 80,000 a year without overtime...that’s $320,000 until the end of the contract. I’m not passing that up for ten grand....and they’ll probably offer the good eisp before the end of the contract anyway.

Heard that a construction boss in north Jersey announced to his gang that they will be targeting the older associates in construction. Hope it’s true and it’s the $2200/$50,000 eisp. If so, I’m gone!

If the locals don't have the answers, go to the nationals! If the nationals don't know, then go to the globals! If the globals don't know, then by golly, go to the interstellars!

Of course they should have information for their members. It could be a deal their making with the company you never know, like the contract where our pension band $ amounts were frozen in 2010 ,and the union had said nothing changed and then they hand out the contract books in 2015 to the membership. I always wondered what deal they made back then when we went back to work with no contract and super storm sandy came and would of had the company by the balls back then, but we got screw31ed...so Let'sMAKE A DEAL AND SPIN THE WHEEL..

I was thinking the same thing. The union usually announces that the company has informed the union of an eisp coming out AND at the same time will provide a list of titles and locations. Then they say the company will start mailing packages to the eligible employees next week.
This is highly unusual that the union will tell the membership that the company has “verbally” informed them of an eisp but they will not post anything until they have it in writing.
If you’re going to announce it, why not give specifics? Only thing that I can think of is the company and union are working out some kind of side deal....like perhaps the company will make an offer that is sure to get a lot of people to take it, and in return the union wants the company to make all of the temp workers permanent....but IMHO that should’ve already been done before announcing anything.
