Understatement in my mind.....

Hans isn't helping IT in anyway, my general OPINION has been IT has been viewed as a commodity since Alin came along. They want to keep the budget dollars for IT as thin as possible meaning outsourcing their server/storage with stuff like AWS and google mail along with outsourcing IT functions from support and development when possible so that they don't have to pay the benefits overhead associated with in-house employees. All the remaining IT leadership is just catering to their bosses wants and needs trying to keep their jobs (Dare I say YES people)

Does it look better on a balance sheet, OH HECK YES......does it pay off in the long term.... NO, never has and it never will. Contractors don't care about the company they work for....they do their work load in the time allotted and go home. They don't go above and beyond, they aren't proactive (they are reactive) and when their shift is over they turn it off. They aren't on call, they aren't necessarily customer friendly and they don't know the ins and outs with internal staff because they aren't.

Outsourcing at Verizon has done wonders to their bottom line but it has broken several processes and it has broken the trust/confidence with the VZ internal customers.

TechStops are more of a drop off location for reimaging than anything else.
Field support has gone down the tubes, store staff hate the contractors
Contractors are taking advantage of Verizon and working from home only when they have to.

Verizon lost a lot of good employees with this InfoSys and VSP garbage...sure they cleaned out the bad ones too but they really shot themselves on this and they will be recovering for years to come.

The company has gone out of their way to display a social conscious while at the same time eat their own. Maybe the Social Responsibility Officer's purview should be expanded to include force reductions and restructuring (rebadging).

Since our CEO arrived, there has been a big bulls eye on IT. In the short term, VSP created new opportunities for some, but in the long term it's just a game of survival everyone for themselves. We don't trust the CEO and the IT leadership team. We have a brief moratorium in 2019, but the threat is constant and never goes away. It's not a question of if, it's a question of when. In the meantime we just keep singing the Pharrell Williams song Happy while looking over our shoulder for what's next.
