Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Can there be even more mass outsourcing in 2020?

Think this is a legit question? Will 2020 be a year where more outsourcing on a massive scale will occur then in 2019?

All Verizon has going for it right now is the hype over 5G. When the reality of 5G starts hitting they're going to sink like a rock. They're trying to make a bandwidth that is only effective for line of sight work for cell phones. Which is fine if you happen to live or work in the beam. Terrible if you're six feet from it. To compensate they plan on putting in about a gazillion mini-towers, which will cost too much and never happen.

In the end they'll lease their 5G bandwidth from the same companies they're competition is leasing it from. Therefore, for most of the country, their service will be identical, but they'll try to market it as something special and charge more. People will figure that scam out soon enough and buy from the lowest priced provider.

By that time they realize Verizon 5G is a stinker, they will have sold off anything of value and will have laid off their top employees.

Duh. How long they can pay the media off is the question because Talk about throwing the network against the rocks. It’s hard to believe they could burn thru all the billions we made for them over the last 20+ years, They had a good thing going. Someone actually believed that they could run off those that built it and replace, without having a clue what the did, overnight. All in the name of automated, more for less, and other sounds good Cliche’s.

Great to see the American middle class disappearing. Stagnant wages, outsourcing, automation, exploiting contract workers... lets layoff a few more thousand people with families

Count in it.

Since our CEO arrived, there has been a big bulls eye on IT. In the short term, VSP created new opportunities for some, but in the long term it's just a game of survival everyone for themselves. We don't trust the CEO and the IT leadership team. We have a brief moratorium in 2019, but the threat is constant and never goes away. It's not a question of if, it's a question of when. In the meantime we just keep singing the Pharrell Williams song Happy while looking over our shoulder for what's next.
