Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Should happen

You know what home office needs to do? They need to come work in some of the clubs at every job to see what works and what doesn't. We have people sitting up in those offices in Bentonville just changing everything they can change. They truly have no idea how things really work. Stop sitting up there come to every sams club work every position and listen to your associates on what would help and what doesn't. Until they do that it's just gonna be c-ap after c-ap. But we all know there no way they will ever do that because to be honest they probably have no idea how to do any of our jobs in any of the stores. Why not just tell people what is gonna happen instead of people assuming and guessing what is happening? Is everyone getting a raise and when? Are we losing managers if so when? Stop playing games at associates expense and causing so much Animosity among each other. Stop playing games Bentonville.

Look, the changes from this past June have been an absolute nightmare. If anyone is expecting the Bentonville Braintrust to turn around and admit they were a mistake, don't hold your breath. The same goes for the delusional expectation that they're going to walk into any club that isn't ready for them and begin wondering, "what have we done?" That just ain't gonna happen. Once they've made a decision that things are going to be a certain way, that's it. You either accept it and continue to get a paycheck, or you don't and you look for something better. No one in Arkansas cares about any of the negative impact that results from their foolish ideas. We either do it their way, or we don't. The best thing we can hope for is that membership sinks like an anvil in a barrel of oatmeal. Even then, mind you, that probably won't be enough. They'd rather just close more clubs than admit that they're decisions were disastrous.

the problem is we are wired to be ready for visits as opposed to actually running good clubs. The culture of visits in this company does the opposite of what people think they do. If you’re on edge about a visit daily, whether your club is perfect or not. It takes your mind off the actual goal. The days you dont get one you’re not getting ahead. And the ones you do get a visit you spend working on a punch list. None of which fixes the root causes.

@1keb
Yep. He's considered part of that HO ignorance.
We were told at our club he was responsible for most of this cross training/job eliminations BS.
He not as knowledgeable as he has made them to believe. Never answers questions unless its gonna benefit him. Takes credit for other people's ideas. Agrees just to agree even when he knows he is wrong. Overpaid Egomaniac

They have never been interested in the truth. Now more than ever. Just leadership through fear, which isn't leadership at all. They hit the door assuming we are the enemy, instead of thinking it's possible that we feel like we are partners with them with a COMMON goal. Imagine that.

So true.. maybe if they actually worked in a club and saw all the chaos their decisions have caused they might change things ! Sadly it probably would never happen... they won’t admit they made a mistake and that they are making everyone crazy

there is something you need to keep in mind...your local managers are almost as responsible for all this chaos as HO. How? well when HO calls and asks how the new plan is working the local management team says everything is working great. such a great program , should have done it sooner. your local leaders do not have the guts to tell a big VP like Louie whats his face , who lives in California but flies to Ohio just to terrorize the locals , that this new way of doing thins is really really really bad. When he comes to town the air raid sirens sound and it is all hands on deck to spruce up the club before he sees how bad things are on a DAILY basis.

@11k2oZlu-1ttp.....I don't think your really shopping at Store #100....because the store #100 you describe is NOT the one that I see on a daily basis.

@1uds I would have to agree with you. I was in one of the test clubs. It is absolutely true that when it was known HO is coming to see how things are working out, the other clubs send over associates to fix the place up ASAP. I worked overnights and all these people worked with us. I couldn't even count how many there were. They got us looking amazing for the visit. Way to go clubs in Arizona! You're shooting yourself in the foot!

It's a great idea but will never happen. To take it a step further, every Executive at the Home Office must work at a random store or club for one month each year to try to get their finger on the pulse to truly see what works and what doesn't. Get back to some of Mr. Sam's philosophies which have been lost on the Home Office.

I know this is the Sam's page but everyone should really see how Store 100, the Walmart directly across the street from the Home Office, runs compared to every other store out there. You can't walk 20 feet without walking into an associate. The shelves are always stocked and never bare. They always have more than 2 checkout lanes open. It is the difference between night and day.

The Home Office lives in a fantasy world where this is how all the stores operate and look. The associates know the the truth. We are understaffed. The shelves are bare. Expectations are that what associates are actually scheduled need to pick up the slack for the associates not scheduled.

I believe the Home Office is scared sh–less they are going the way of Kmart and nothing can can do will prevent it.

You need the waltons to come work in a store. Their opinion is the only one that matters.

Their ridiculous. They had some quack bunch called operations transition teams go into clubs and "test" these BS "initiatives". Those transitions teams were clueless in actual operations of the clubs. Regionals & Market managers heard HO was coming to check out how these "test" clubs were doing and they'd send in 30 people from other clubs to get the clubs they were "testing" up to par. Airhead HO leaders show up and oh my look how great its going. SMH! You can pull the wool over anyone's eyes there. We got some air in a bag I'd like to sell you..

They know exactly what they're doing. They are putting money in their pockets while the ship sinks. They know the place is going down the tubes. Believe me, it's all part of the big master plan. We are all pawns in their game. And we're all doing it willingly.
