Project cancelled is the new lay-off to avoid legal, regulatory and media scrutiny. My old group was completely shut down under the guise of project cancellation and everyone was given 60 days in the pool. This occurred in Q3-4, so people are let go in Q4. The company is not going to retain someone until Jan 2nd as this would mean paying Q4 and annual bonuses.

Oh, their training is quite simple! Keep your friends and fire anybody who has said anything negative about management!

Its just not at Intel.... A lot of companies are bracing for a shakedown. Banking seems to have been hit hard.

I heard that Intel HR has a policy to not lay anyone off between Oct 15th to Jan 2.

BUT what you could get is one of those soft-pushes where your project has been cut and you have 60 days to find an internal job. Good luck. That's your severance. If you can't find a job by Jan 2, then there is no spot for you at Intel.
