Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

EISP offer details

EISP offer was presented to the union, I do not know all of the details but I know the major sticking point is the 2nd portion of the company stock to the employees. From what I am being told, the company's offer is contingent on the union agreeing to waive the 25 shares of stocks for all employees. There is supposed to be a big announcement on Monday.

It's crazy they won't loan people out of state...I install FIOS and got forced into OT 2x this last week....meanwhile we have some people loaned out to another local for 30 days....I would think any big offer would be weighted more to areas without much work....that would actually make sense....it's extremely rare for me to ever be off the load here....just order after order here in upstate NY

our garage in pa. had 15 fios techs in last week taking netlearn courses because we have no work. cant imagine how or why a company would pay guys 40 dollars an hr. to do nothing. boggles my mind but ill take it.

We have guys sweeping parking lots! WTF? There is no work in construction and fios installs have dried up. Literally have a half dozen workers sitting in the locker trying to find something to do.

Same in pa no work at all .not running fiber just some double woods that we keep getting sent on ,dont know how many time they will let us close out the same poles. And same deal sending people out of areas to find work

Here in Va, we don’t offer product anybody wants.
No Fios, no 5g just enhanced 4g coming. Losing customers by the hundreds to the cable companies because they have a product. We send upto 10 tech’s out of town for 2 weeks twice a month to other parts of the state so the company doesn’t have to hire.
So I doubt if in my part of Va we see any kind of EISP. Even though a lot of us are 55+ with 20+ years of service.

To the last poster..Wow....that’s a hell of an offer....nothing in my mailbox in upstate NY....what state are you in.?...these garages could empty out big time....It’s actually too good,...they probably wouldn’t let me go....too many senior people in my way....

Got my package today, it’s 10 years. You can divide however you want..2 and 8, 6 and 4 , 7and 3 etc. it’s ingenious. I am 53 w 24 yrs service and I am using all 10 to my service, none to my age. That means 53 w 34 years and a huge lump sum. Good luck to all.

In NJ I got more info from my boss than the union....union says they haven’t heard anything while the boss is telling us the VP said the eisp will be offered to outside techs. Pretty sad that management knows more than our union.

What I really do not understand, here in NJ the Union has no idea what the offer will be. You ask 3 different people and you get 3 different answers. They must know ???

25 shares comment is BS, all is BS..rumor is 4th Q, we are in it. If eisp is to be given, most likely be contractual. If you dont get anything in mail, or a formal announcement, imo, by end of first week Nov. It will not be offered. No way in dec they would come out with it, where in past you have 5 weeks to make a decission, where it rolls into 2020 and they will have to give guys their vac, and personal days on top. Only thing I can see is Nov 1st the 0.0 rate will show for January, and may make it more appealing and do it then. But again, rumors and wishful thinking to those looking to go with a little extra. That said, still hearing rumors, in diff locations, more than before. Its wait and see time, And work.

Those that leave with the eisp should not get the 25 shares, but those of us that stay employed should receive the 25 shares, why should other lose the 25 shares.this is not let's make a deal..lol

Oh wait...I see...the union probably wants to make sure any member who leaves prior to vesting date still gets the shares? 25 shares isn't squat though....we shall soon see how this all plays out

Verizon wants out of landlines altogether and believes wireless/5g is the answer to the future of the company...they will sell landlines in any state they can if they get a reasonable offer...we have 5g going into areas where we have already sold our landlines as they reserved colocation rights/access to maintain their 5g network...of course whole state sales will be tough to get approved in many states based on the failures of many of the other landline sales...NY and NJ would probably be the toughest ones to get approved...a huge offer to Union members to reduce the headcount/pension burden would make the landlines much more attractive....I'm curious to see what this "big" announcement is supposed to be tomorrow...probably nothing...word spreading here is some offer is going to roll out Nov 6, but I have no idea on any details or areas....I think the company could put out a weak offer now at the very least to get out a few desperate people at a low cost to them just to see how many people take it without shelling out an extra $40k person or more.....I have a hard time believing some small amount of vz stock is holding up all of this...meh

The French company you are referencing is Altice. That was a rumor started by a Wall Street analyst and never had any basis in fact. You really shouldn't tell someone to do their homework when you don’t even know the names of the companies your are referring to. It makes you seem stoned.

Just one more note;
If the company was really interested in selling, they would make a huge offer to get rid of the pension commitments.

Peace

In 2015 Verizon sold wireline assets in 3 states for $10.5 b. None of those states was New York. Making up price estimates and imagining companies whom the government will never allow to buy communication assets. (911, government contracts) doesn’t change reality.
I am in several COs a day. I know who is in there and I know who is providing 5g to T-Mobil. 5g is built into the wireline backbone in the northeast.
I did my homework.
Do yours.

$35b and no one is going buy it.

And why would anyone buy a dying company the same reason frontier bought vz assets. BIG BONUSES. Then bail !!!! O did I mention kick backs .

35 billion. Dude u r way off top is 20 billion, same people buying frontier assets Wave capital for one would buy it .and if u do ur home work theres a French company. U have to do ur home work ! I'll give u hint theres video of him talking about buying assets. Is another one..and I dont know if u ever went into a CO look around theres. more then just Verizon in there.

Wall Street valued the wireline side of the house (and all that fiber) at $35b. Name 5 companies who can afford to pay that.
Google? Comcast? They ain’t buyin.
Next question:
If it’s such a loser why would anyone buy it?
You think the FCC didn’t notice all those spin-offs going bankrupt?
You know all the cell towers and 5g rings are housed in COs right?
Wireless people are hilarious.
Where do think the traffic goes!?
Up?
Out?
You have no clue.
Good Lord.

There will be an offer when there is an offer.

Have to agree landline probably will be sold before end of contract Verizon has same play book for years .remember yellow pages division it was dying they made new company idearc spun that off 16 months later bankrupt. Next sold landlines to frontier (poor basterds) 16 months later bankrupt. O wait reverse stock split!! Its penny stock now ,they r selling parts to hedge funds now.wont be around very much longer .let all guess what they will do next!!!! All ready putting 5 g towers in fios areas.and dont forget 9 billion in pension costs they could get off there books ..if landline goes.... vz stock price 84 to 108 Go 5 g!!!!!!

Total BS. The union doesn’t want the eisp...it takes members (dues) away....and they won’t take the 25 shares away from the entire membership for the few who do take an eisp.

If there’s a negotiation then it’s not an EISP they are offering, since the company can just offer it
