Leasing HDQ

It appears as though the cuts have left several floors at HDQ empty. Therefore our fearless leadership has decided to try and lease a floor or two at HDQ to outside companies...are we really in that bad of shape or are the execs that money hungry? Maybe more folks will lease from UP since we are #1!!!

Leasing office space at UPC makes little sense, unless it is for a contractor filling a gaps in capabilities caused by the layoffs and voluntary attrition. I can't see how doing this would be profitable though.

Leasing retail space on the ground floor might make more sense, but I can't see who would want it. Omaha isn't exactly a world class city (sorry), and UPC isn't close to the few things of interest that Omaha has.

Wow, leasing out the flagship! Could this be phase one of operation “let’s get the heck outta Dodge?” For those not living in Omaha, the Dodge is kind of the main strip. Wonder what companies would even be interested since there’s already ample office space available elsewhere. I hope UP will let the new tenants know that laid-off employees were asked to refrain from entering the building again. There goes half of Omaha if it’s a customer-facing business.

Hey “Nobody is leashing space at HQ. You are just as bad as Lance spreading lies.” I think it was Lance himself on a town hall meeting that said they would consider leasing it out if they found someone that made sense. Who that would be is beyond me...maybe CN or CSX?

When leashing space... do you use an invisible collar?

question, the people that lease space, are they going to be handed out total safety culture cards and chased down the sidewalk if they jaywalk like other people leaving the building? what if they go up the stairs without using the handrail?

They are probably going to give the FRA a super deal to lease them. Maybe a strong union or two might be interested too.

Maybe some diploma mills will setup shop since they’re on a first name basis with UP

Leasing it out makes sense. Maybe leadership is capable of making an intelligent decision after all.

I’m sure the payday loan companies will be interested. That’s about the only business that wants to be close to UP.

There’s nothing unusual about a company’s headquarters leasing out floor space to banks, restaurants or even condos. Not doing it would be foolish.
