Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

My Post Was Deleted

Woke up to find my post deleted. I must have struck a nerve.

The post was about how Cisco has hit a new low by paying a service and buying ads to back their “#1 place to work” campaign. I detailed the mechanics of how Cisco Paid “Great Place to Work.com” to create the phony ranking.

Even in this phony ranking Cisco is not #1.

Cisco also created banner ads that said “We are #1”, which when clicked, took you directly to Cisco’s career page.

I posted about how, in talking to well over 100 coworkers this week, not a single one took any survey about working at Cisco.

I posted about how, when you carefully separate the Ads from the Truth, nobody has ranked Cisco as #1 anything.

  • GreatPlaceToWork.com did NOT rank Cisco #1
  • Fortune did NOT rank Cisco #1
  • Forbes did NOT rank Cisco #1
  • The employees did NOT rank Cisco #1

You can bake all of the cookies you want marketing team.... you can tell this site to delete my posts... that doesn’t mean your lies are true.

Cisco is becoming GE for a reason. There are so many ex-GE’s in management.

I got the survey. Got an email 7/19/2019. Survey closed 7/24/2019. Email came from Great Place to Work.

You are claiming that you received a survey on a Friday and the survey closed on the following Wednesday? And somehow Great Place To Work magically had your email on a list somewhere?

You are either a liar, or you are in marketing or HR (both of which make you a career liar).

So a company with frequent layoffs, especially for white 50+ employees is the best place to work? Absolutely not. And the US department of labor is investigating Cisco for discriminatory practices. Between the layoffs and the discrimination, Cisco is definitely not a good place to work.

Of course this comment will deleted by moderators soon though this comment does not violate any site rule.

I was surprised to read Cisco was voted #1 workplace in the world. With the constant LRs every year, you would think the employee morale would be very low. It certainly impacted my morale over the years! Then after being recognized as a 20 year employee in May, I was LR'd in July. I was devastated! The company shows no loyalty to their long-term employees. With $50B in annual revenues there is no excuse for annual/bi-annual LRs en masse. Maybe pluck a few here and there but thousands at a time every year is simply cold-hearted - especially for a company that espouses "the Cisco family". My mantra for many years was Cisco was 'the greatest company on earth', but no more.

if you want honest discussion about h1b issues or group preference go post somewhere else. mods will delete posts. then they will say you violated some fictitious rules of the board. truth is silenced here

  • mods/admins exist, they are silent tho
  • they delete messages, sometimes in bulk (eg all threads or all messages you ever posted by you or someone else may be nuked)
  • they block ip addresses, some vpns will not work as they are already blocked
  • some words are blocked and trigger reviews, try to enter xes in reverse and they'll review you
  • here are things that will trigger a review, purge or block: swearing, use of names, politics, attacking other people
  • got blocked once, never heard back from them and had to switch ip
  • if someone is crossing the line you can report it on the contact page
  • dont post in weird threads, they may bulk block you (if you do, use vpn)
  • they really cannot stop you posting, use a vpn and you are ok - if you are using a vpn, dont use bing ones like nordVPN as they have them blocked - pick a smaller providedr
  • try to avoid any discussion about race or identity groups, they dont f around with that - that's like an instant ban and all your older messages get deleted

The post referring to GE is what I fear most. I've heard high level Cisco excutives say that Cisco can do anything because it is the king now. The hubris is very real. GE's fall is a reminder that being the leader in a market is something you retain only if you continually earn it. One day you can wake up and it is gone, and all that marketing and HR rah-rah will be seen retrospectively as a terrible sideshow. This can happen to any company.

Describing actions and not people will NOT keep your posts (or entire threads) from being deleted. Certain topics are forbidden and the moderators will simply delete the.

I’ve read it too, good read, but had some personal insults. That could be the reason why it got purged. Recently read this

TOP TIP#1 - Don't post derogatory comments aimed at people; only their actions.

I saw your original post also and upvoted it - Awesome post, awesome information. If this site wants to keep people coming to it, deleting your posts is counterproductive. Your kind of posts are the ones I come here to read!

I saw your original post and commented on it. My responses added some detail, and were also deleted. I think most people see through this stunt. Morale is at an all-time low. Leadership is failing. The company as we’ve always known it is in its twilight years.

If these jokers remain at the helm, Cisco becomes a GE. Just a giant holding company that sells a bunch of different stuff, none of which works together.
