I was laid off in October 2019 along with my director and many other employees. UHC E&I. Another mass lay-off is happening Thursday 02-06-20. Will it ever end. Jobs going to India, Philippines & Ireland. The rest of the US employees will be required to pick up the slack after another mass lay-off.

I'd also like to add that when I took over the cases from those in the Philippines, the charting and work was half done. Terrible employees that have job security and working for a business that provides services to Americans and know nothing about the American Healthcare System.

First, I was laid off on Wednesdag. Second, I transferred from one position to another that OGS was covering and those nurses were placed in new roles. Now, the role that I took has been eliminated, but the nurses from the Philippines were given another role and kept their jobs. They are moving their jobs overseas. Values? Yea, it's more about the $$$.

@11n7xd2E-yqle You sound entitled. In fact, it sounds like your job was off shored exactly because you provided no value. Again, the point is that this is a business not a charity, and that redundancies are eventually eliminated. You can campaign all you want, but the fact is that your job could be done by someone with significantly less cost than you. Accept it and move on.

To the person or administrative person who thinks outsourcing js only done to people who have no value. Anyones job can be outsourced including VP, Ceo,s MD's etc. What can't be outsourced is the power of the vote when thousands of employees who won't have jobs for christmas and all their plans for 2020 go up in smoke..The writing is on the wall for big insurance. I will spend all my lay off time campaigning to get rid of private insurance freeing up the masses so they can be free to go to jobs they can enjoy and not be held hostage by their employers health insurance. We who have worked for private insurance know all the c-ap that is done behind the scenes to keep people from their covered benefit that they are paying for. Its not free u know.

I'm more surprised by the fact that all of you whose jobs were offshored are in fact surprised. If your role can be done by someone overseas for a fraction of the price, maybe you should consider what value you were bringing to the table. Hint: probably not much.

This is a business, not a charity folks.

"Please give as much info as you can " - @11n7xd2E-4qzh - People still can't handle a message board/thread. Reading comprehension is fundamental and missing in several threads, and you wonder why you were laid off? golf clap

Got laid off and the Company manager (not my direct manager) lied through his eye teeth. I'm a big girl and don't need nor do I like being lied to. I'm old enough to handle the truth. Lied to me the turned around and told the rest of my team exactly what he told me was not the reason. What happened to the integrity of this company. Thought it was one of your core values.

@11n7xd2E-2fly Get a grip? Seriously. I don't know where live, but $1800 gross pay per month is not going to pay the rent/mortgage, bills, and put food on the table. Lord only knows how long it will take to find another job, and that could take longer than unemployment runs. The fact is, the company is giving no warning. On top of that, all of these jobs are being sent to India and the Philippines. Don't tell me that they aren't. I have looked at the job boards. I've seen the postings. It's unethical, lacks compassion, and there is certainly no integrity there. You're probably a PR rep trying to get this down played. It won't work. This company is doing its employees wrong, and once it hits the news it will be a PR nightmare. The American people are sick of outsourcing and illegal immigration taking American jobs. I can't wait to see what this does to your stock. I hope you sink.
If they at least provided the 60 days notice and 60 days severance that the WARN act requires it might not be so bad. On top of that, they are planning these layoffs just in time to make sure those laid off won't get the 3rd quarter bonuses that they earned. If you don't like what's being said here, get off the site.

@11n7xd2E-2fly Why are you on here? You came on here to complain about posts that you don’t have to read. I hope they are also paying top dollar you to fight their battles. Keep posting, just makes this site more popular. Carry on.

Get a grip? Do you have a mortgage and kids? Food stamps and unemployment won't cut it. Have you worked a decade or more at your career where jobs aren't as plentiful as entry level jobs?

The issue is this company gives little to no notice for many they lay off. We work hard for the money we earn. It's not charity. You sound like a corporate shill.

Get a grip people. Jobs aren't forever. I am a current employee of Optum and a year and a half ago I was laid off too. Before then, I had been through other company layoffs. I was hired back with UHC and you can too. Stop acting like its the end of the word and especially stop slandering the company that took care you of all these years. It's business. If you thought you were going to be there till you die, then that is your bad. We are in the age where there IS NO job security. Apply, Apply, Apply!! When I was laid off by Optum I then put in 40 job applications with UHC and was hired. Do whatever it takes to survive. Apply for food stamps and unemployment. Unemployment starts the day of your last paycheck. The full amount is around $900 per two weeks. UHC will give you your severance as well and it includes your 40 hours PTO payout. They DON'T have to do any of that. As well, in some states it is AT WILL which means they can let you go any time they want. Apply with competitors like Cigna, or other. But don't slander UHC about this. This message just applies to those think jobs are forever and have to slander a company.

Why would anyone join a public Facebook group? So we can be targeted and retaliated against? Try again United Healthcare/Optum.The only thing I would advise anyone to join is a class action lawsuit after you get your last check.

Optum has a habit of proactively laying off people as they over hire early in year hoping for new contracts, then need to cut costs starting Q3. Those over 50 beware, the system can be gamed so old and played well lose, young, inexperienced and lower cost win. It's all about the $$$.

I had heard that some of the recently nominated Optum SuperHeros are on a soon-to-be-executed layoff list. WTF!?

It is true Optum is laying people off, and there are still more to come (historically, it's done the week before Christmas - nice, huh?), but yet at the same time UHG has a hiring freeze. That means nothing you apply for on the UHC side or the Optum side will end up in a hiring. There's a budget which needs to be spent in order to get the same HR budget (and more) next year. So, while they can't hire people, they can still spend the money to advertise and post jobs.

There's a big push for teams to 'transition' (AKA assimilate or get swallowed up) into other teams that just don't work the same way or even provide the same kind of output (one might be a product while the other is a service). Customers will notice this. Customers will complain. Customers will leave. I know of one team (an agile methodology team) who was recently moved into a waterfall methodology team and it has been a struggle. Leadership has reported up the chain that the transition went perfectly and "everyone is thrilled" when the truth is the team which was swallowed up is now struggling, and the team that swallowed them up is also struggling because they now don't understand the new team's functionality. I heard this reference this analogy the other day: It's like trying to force a triangle into a circle - it may fit, but then you have 3 semi-circle gaps that have no function.

I had also heard that UHC plans to quadruple in size by 2024. Quite possibly this will be another checkbook shift for UHG - remember when IT moved from UHC to Optum? They're probably going to shift that again from Optum back to UHC in order to redistribute the UHG checkbook again.

OGS seems to be taking so many jobs. The problem with OGS is that they're primarily contractors and once they're contract run is up, someone else steps in who has to start from scratch. Whatever happened to rewarding people for loyalty, and dare I say it: Living the values!?

Tread lightly everyone, but keep your eyes and ears open for other positions both in and out of the enterprise. It doesn't look pretty.

@11n7xd2E-fxl there was a post in another thread that had a link to a job posting for the Philippines. It was for clinical authorizations review. I am not a nurse, but I have heard that nurses have been laid off. My speculation is yes, they are sending the jobs to India and the Philippines. I had a friend that said Chase did this to her and others years ago and got into trouble for it. I'm not sure how they would, I don't think there are any laws against it; but that is what she told me. What they could possible get in trouble for is designing this lay off in such a way as to avoid the WARN act. I've been thinking of consulting an attorney regarding it.

Curious if anyone knows if their jobs are outsourced or H1B'ized? This should be tracked to ensure thats not what has occurred.

How is this not on the News? I was told yesterday to expect the layoffs to effect Optum (division I work for) starting next week.

I know that a supervisor at my site was let go, and another supervisor in my department who works at another site were let go. I don't think my site in general has gone through the mass lay off yet, but it is probably coming. We were told a few months ago that we were overstaffed and encouraged to post for other positions. I've posted for over 20 and have gotten a thanks but no thanks response on every one. We really do need to keep track of how many people are getting hit. There has to be something we can do. I'd say lets make a walk on the white house to ban outsourcing all together, but that would take too long to have legislation passed even if it did work. I've already written NBC, I am going to write CNN today. We need to get this public and make them feel social pressure. I am writing my congressman later today.

On October 2 2019 many people (they don’t tell you how many were laid off) from New Day and PCRS claims in Phoenix, Az the office on Cotton Ln we’re hit. Some were WAH. The next day a huge meeting ensued with employees only to talk about open enrollment and PTO bidding coming up (how twisted) I’ve heard “grumblings about CRT C&S claims are next? I’m in that department and I’m outraged at the handling of this nightmare. I will keep posting updates as I learn about them. We seriously should consider a class action lawsuit as a whole. Surely, WE as employees can find a “loop-hole” just like this erroneous company does on the daily against US! Good luck to US ALL
