Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Why So Many Retired Employees? & 12/15 looming, any RIFs?

Why do so many retired employees read and post on here? Enjoy your retirement, and join Facebook to do your daily blogging.

Reading your old news/highlights before you retired isn’t helpful to employees trying to see what’s really going on now.

As soon as I read there was an increase to the company match for “loyal” employees that stick with the company through Dec. 15, I suspected there would be late in the year lay-offs to reduce company contributions every year there-after.

My manager has made a few comments suggesting there would be a RIF by years end. 12/15 is coming around again, any news on upcoming RIFs?

I visit because I left angry and never got over it. Like others on this board the management culture poisoned me and I feel obligated to comment when I come across honeywell products and activities. As a recreational pilot I have a lot of opportunity to compare bendix va garmin.

Came back to check if there was a response to my post. Wow, why was I so angry? Apologies for the negativity all; it wasn't necessary. I provoked some emotion out of the group though; that's a lot of downvotes!!

RIFS came to Raleigh, NC this week. As an office is built in Charlotte, NC, Honeywell/HPS keen on moving more and more labor to "regional" center in Mexico City.

Oh, and regarding "loyal" I was trying to highlight the obnoxiousness of the Honeywell sales pitch. The increase in % match and an adjustment to a single annual pay-out was not implemented to reward loyal employees, it allowed Honeywell to abstain from matching a loyal employees 401k contributions, when they are RIFed right before 12/15 each year. (cut-off date to receive the %match)

Worked in Aero for 39+ years. Wife 31 years. We retired about 5 years ago. Still interested to some degree. Always amazed when they come up with another policy to cut benefits to employees. WAS a fantastic place to work up until around 2005 when they started cutting the benefits and a few years later hiring $15 per hour non qualified sub contract people.

I have 40 years at Honeywell, I will retire end of the year to get 401K match. I will continue to show up here and reply if I see a appropriate response is needed.

We spent many years and countless hours at the company. We are still interested in what's happening at Honeywell and this site gives us a glimpse. Though we have to sift through a fair bit of grousing and whining, there is still some good information here.

I am still in contact with many active employees, but they are reluctant to talk about the company. I guess they get enough of that 8-12 hours a day. Understandable, they are more interested in discussing healthcare after HON, tax ramifications and such....

I like to hear from retired Honeywell employees to learn from their experience.

"loyal" employees ? Are those in PR less loyal because their % is half of ours on mainland? That match was meant as a enticement to save into a 401K ... nothing more.
