Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ha I thought I was crazy for buying a Honda when we announced the removal of cars but I and many others are not alone

Basically, people trading in their Ford sedans are choosing to stay with small cars and are simply going to a competitor like Honda or Toyota. This is EXACTLY what I did as well. There are many reasons for still wanting sedans or small cars instead of larger SUVs, crossovers or trucks, but in all honesty, it comes down to I just f***ing want a car and I won't change my mind unless I truly needed a larger car like if I had a family of 5+. I prefer to have a more gas efficient vehicle and that's just my opinion. If Ford doesn't want my money so be it Honda is more than happy to sell me a Civic at or below MSRP

They are probably shopping the competition because they know you and feel terrible that your career ended the way it did.

I doubt they ever shop Ford again.

Been SRDd earlier this year and retired. Have the full compliment of PIN numbers I used for myself and family members available. Entire extended family have been shopping the competition. Pretty sad, but Ford did this to themselves.

Some Civics also have the problematic 1.5 l Earthdreams engine. This knocked them down in CR reliability just published. But they still beat Ford!

I have friends and family who have switched from Fords to competitors. I didn’t convince them to switch. They made their own decisions based on quality and lack of sedans. People talking about SRD and lawsuits over firing people who were inches away from being eligible from retirement didn’t do much for customer loyalty either. Add in the chatter about what they did to retiree health care and they are on their way to having a bad reputation. People are loyal to a brand that offers quality products that they want or need. Many like to do business with a company that they believe is ethical. Ford no longer has a reputation for having any of these qualities. It can take years to recover from that.

Honda has better reliability than Ford in general but aren't perfect I own an an Odyssey. Avoid CRV with 1.5 turbo, "Earthdreams" engine. They have real problems with oil dilution.
