Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Is it true we are going down to 450 locations by 2021?

Any way to know if my store will be on list of closings?

Everyone into the life boats 🛶. We're on a sinking ship 🛳️, But yeah let's keep pretending we're not and all is fine. 🙄

If you are a growth door, or going to be a growth door in 2020, you are safe.
If you are not a growth door by 2020, your days are numbered. It’s just a matter of time until your lease is up or they sell your building.
Very large cuts coming in January.

this is how they love to cut jobs without anyone knowing. it goes seasonal, and then magically it isn't part of the ownership when it comes out.

ues...if a regular hourly associate leaves from 8010 or 8030 leaves after the cut off date, i believe it was 10/10, the position goes seasonal. there a few exceptions. this is how it is every holiday season. DMET is a district position and i am talking about managers. the fact is the company is not doing well. look at the numbers on insite.

If a regular leaves mid season they dont get replaced til next year. It's always been like that. Stop fear mongering.

I left Macys last month and so glad I did. I get treated with respect and also appreciated for my work which NEVER happened at Macy’s! Get out!

when manager jobs start going on hold and and they are not replacing them, you know something is coming. for example, all DMET jobs are on hold, so if somebody is leaves, they are not replacing them. why?? who are they holding those positions for because their job will be cut next year?? combining districts? AST? are they finally going to cut MTM positions?? the culture of macy's is horrible. the top is out of touch with what goes on in the stores. the store managers are under so much pressure and it trickles down. the SM's are burnt out and many HATE their jobs. the associate population is a mess. phone hire extends offers to many people who come and steal, irresponsible and don't stay after a couple of weeks. L and D spends all this money on these new hire folders that are nothing but a waste of money. I wonder how many just go right into the trash. this culture does not drive dedication or motivation for the associate level who are the back bone of the store. I wonder what the turn over rate is? so yes, i think the cuts will be bad next year with store closings and jobs all around in different parts of the company. macy's is a sinking ship. i work in a very large store in a major city and is under preforming. good luck to all!! and if you can get out, i would do it!!

Ive been reading gm are quitting. As well as cuts of hours. My hours got cut by 8 hours. My entire store hours got cut. My manager who was there for over 10 years quit before Xmas People around the store saying it’s going down. Two managers quit yet only job replacement on job board. So with cuts rolling into Xmas. Walking into multiple Macy’s and seeing it’s mostly dead. Plus it’s a dead end job no matter what your rank is. They are only keeping you for Xmas. After that they need you to reset the store up until feb when your service is no longer needed. They will also do and say anything to get you out. Do yourself a fav. Start applying but don’t do it for retail. This is done
