Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Guam Store and KMart IP

Any chance Westfarmers acquires the Guam Store along with Global ownership of the KMart IP? We already know that Wesfarmers is expanding into the US with their Anko stores in Seattle, but even if they have no desire to reintroduce the KMart name in the near future, might we see Wesfarmers attach ownership of the Guam Store to having Global ownership of the KMart name?

Guam is actually much closer to Japan than to Australia - something to keep in mind.

As long as Eddie keeps the Guam store open, he can claim the billions in carryover tax losses from Sears Holdings, because there's a window you have to keep the new company running without bankruptcy in order to keep the tax losses in place (plus he actually has to make a profit with Transform Holdco some day to take advantage of them. Considering how highly he values the Guam store, that's likely the sham setup he plans to do.

No way. Eddie will keep that one open (and probably only that one) and claim he "saved" Kmart, which will technically be true, because he saved 1. That store is a Goldmine, so while he will close the others, I don't think he will close that. He might rename it Sears though.

It makes sense, but I haven't heard any reports that they're actually going to buy the store.

If not them, then hopefully Walmart or Target steps in to buy the Guam store.
