Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

When was the last time you felt happy working at Verizon

I mean seriously? I know I haven't felt happy in a while. Anybody considering leaving on their own terms?

08/23/19 - Last day at VZ. Got a bunch of network security training, passed my cert exams and left on my own terms. Learned more in last 3 months then in my 10 years at VZ. Better job security, better pay, similar benefits, definitely a better quality of life. Should've taken a VSP earlier.

@iviw... good job. Now, since I guarantee VZ mgrs and maybe security troll these posts, you’ll have them out headhunting. And most guys/gals put in a respectable day’s work. So you just put a bunch of honest workers in unnecessary crosshairs.

I agree with 128TcnpE-1qhx. LoMc and the wireless mob were the smartest guys in the room and employees & shareholders paid for their many mistakes for years to come. I remember the company webcast LoMc referred to T-MUS as the JV team. The JV team proceeded to kick our behind as the double digit profit margins fell to dangerously low single digits after we bought out Vodafone's share of wireless at the absolute peek price. Every LoMc acquisition failed. IT went from a value added organization to a drain on company assets that ultimately resulted in the worse executed re-badging of 1500 employees to a scandal plagued company. No wonder the every person for themselves culture remains the elephant in the room today.

This poor excuse for an offer was another slap in the face. It sure doesn’t seem they really want people to go.

Let’s assume you are right. If so all the negatives should go away with Hans. We share see. I think people want to be part of a company that is winning. Getting along without getting results is not winning. We will see

You can blame all the hatred of wireless to wireline, managers to employees, lower managers to higher ups. It's all started when lowell McAdams took over..now look at this company everyone hates everyone "I'm better than you attitude ",it's like pre - school .

If its that bad you should all leave, union or management. Go see if the grass is greener somewhere else. I think you will find it is not.

I was happy last Friday, the Friday before that, and so on. And I'll be happy every Friday till August of 2023. Have a nice day and be thankful for what you have.

Verizon feels like working at the Department of Motor Vehicles without the job security. It's a good thing we have a duopoly in the telecommunications industry. Hopefully Sprint can be eliminated to reduce another competitor.

@ gni - If VZ is so great, why are you on the layoff board? Asking in all seriousness. Just wondering how someone worried about losing their job and not trusting their employer could be so happy? Sounds like it is time to pick up and move on for you...

If VZ s—s so much, why are you still there? Asking in all seriousness. I have always picked up and moved on when I became unhappy. Just wondering what others’ reasons are for staying.

This place has always s—ed, but it's a good place to make a decent living. Good pay, benefits, definitely looking forward to 2023, when the only jobs I'll have, are ones that I want, and enjoy.

  1. It all went to $hit when we were folded into VZ Comm in 2015. Thanks a lot Blowell for your parting gift you tired old man.
