Conway to receive engine rebuilds from Juniata

A reliable source has let me know that Conway is to receive engine rebuilds from Juniata. Calling at least 40 furloughed back in February.

You gotta remember, we are talking about a company that would remove an A/C traction motor assembly at a different shop, ship the assembly to Juniata, remove the wheel-set, ship the motor to Roanoke to be rebuilt, rebuild the wheelset at Juniata, send the motor back from Roanoke, reassemble the combo in Juniata and then ship it to Dayton, before shipping it back to another outlying point to be installed. Ironically a lot of the shipping is done with trucks too. Shipping logistics is not quite their strong suit.....

You people are unbelievable spreading rumors. Got to wonder how many people posting here even work for the railroad. Do you think anyone in the company that has the power to move work from one shop to another would post that information here. Now there were some people looking at the CDS back shop with the intent of moving some more generator work there, but nothing final has been announced.

your funny love!! supervisor or not one doesn’t exist without the other F ool! and yes lucky to have a job but not for the reasons your eluding to. why don’t you put respect and honor into the work and thank a fellow union member from the past who has actually fought for the jobs we take for granted now. this generation has no clue what it takes to keep the jobs we have now! this is why we are loosing work in every industry. so stop complaining about the us and them fight. we both serve a purpose you’d just fail to see that. we have bad union workers just like they have bad management. so get off you high horse and fight for what remains and show some respect to those of us that are thankful for the job we have!!!

“Lucky to have a job”...sounds like something a good for nothing supervisor would say. Go back to your cardinal rules check and try to fire somebody else to try to prove your worthiness.

Yet another "reliable source ". Not one single time has anything that came from a reliable source on here come to pass. You guys are rank and file know nothing's who are lucky to have a job.

are you seriously expecting us to believe this? it’s laughable to think that cds could even handle such a task and to think it would take 40 callbacks to perform this task is exactly why cds will never build handle or touch a complete engine. just be thankful for the work you have and crawl back under that rock. oh bad quality from Juniata? more precisely we have poor quality across the system. nothing new here. not a one site problem but more of a quality of people. we just don’t have the people with the required skill or determination across they system. this is why we are tossing the work around to see who will rise to the challenge. my money is on contracting the work out. Conway is just a little to late to the party. not you fault you just don’t have the talent.

I hope they can rebuild engines better than they do electrical mods. Signing off on stuff and not even starting them...”yep that engine is rebuilt” and there end up being an empty block in the frame.

I’ve never touched a wrench let alone a complete engine. I’ve been told that upper management is upset with the continuous failures from Altoona

cool you ever build one? when will they start delivering? what will you be doing with the engines? do you have a crane big enough to offload and install them? this is good news for conway. keep us informed on how the builds go. big step for the shop moving from the one off power assy. to a complete engine. good luck and remember Altoona is always here to help.
