Saw the post from CEO about how he has made is management staff agile by making it lean and then saw the org chart they linked. Noticed Murthy is only handling Raja, JK and TD. Wasn't basically most of Intel under him before?
I remember specifically seeing CCG, Nervana, PSG all under him. What changed?
Murthy is a great talker, nothing more.
That man virtually destroyed the company culture that made Intel great.
He's practically silent and non-existent. Why is Intel paying for him and his buddies?
Murthy needs to go. He is awful and one of the worst legacies of BK.
Other than the criminal amounts of money he will collect, I have no idea what he has accomplished within Intel in the past 5 or so years.
ESP'ed CCG employee here. I recall when Murthy came on board he had like half or more of the company under him. It was a HUGE number and it surprised me since he came from the outside. I never understood why they gave so much of the company to a guy from the outside. I think slimming him down (no pun there) was a good idea.
Murthy snuck in at a strange time. He was well-liked by BK, who championed him from the start. He supposedly oversaw many orgs and had tons of face time with employees in BUMs. Then something happened and he was sidelined. Maybe the BOD pushed him down a bit due to his mouthy comments about Intel in the press. Once BK was pushed out, Murthy was the obvious engineering-led choice, but he didn’t make the cut. We went with the triple CFO approach - CEO, CFO and Chairman CFO, to run the company.
Murthy has been sidelined and is now ‘vesting in peace’ as they call it. At some point in the very near future, he will announce he is leaving with his unworthy 45M in stock or whatever. It’s Iike he was never here.
