In Pittsburgh, a maintenance man jumped from the roof of building one. I'm aware of another instance from family members of an operations employee who called HR to inquire if his life insurance policy covers s–c-de; unfortunately the next day they discovered his death with a s–c-de note.

We've had a handful of people in their 40s die suddenly of heart attack.

I can't say these acts are related to the atmosphere at our company. These have all happened within the last 8 years. I think our industry itself is stressful and with economic circumstances lends to higher mortality rates.

The strategy is to force ling term employees down through corporate abuse of their emotional well-being. They attempt to camouflage this by talking about welfare and running the odd event of physiological safety (the exact opposite to what they do in practice). Fooling nobody. The sad part is that these individuals are driven by greed and have very unfulfilling lives. One they when it is too late and they realise that money cannot save them, they will then see their failings as humans. In the mean time their subordinates will smile and nod, as they chase the dollar. They would be better served looking after other people, their families and their children.

A 75k fine is nothing for any of these large companies. It's jail time that will get the message across!

From the NPR article, "The court looked at 39 cases from the late 2000s — including 19 employees who took their lives at work or with s–c-de notes blaming the company, and 12 others who attempted to do so."
I wasn't aware of anyone that attempted to or committed s–c-de in a BNY Mellon office. If so that's a more tragic issue.
