Actually the data shows some progress over the past 5 years but women are still under represented in all areas. Read the 2019 Women in the Workplace Report by McKinsey. Better yet, I don’t need a report or article on the Internet to tell me what I see with my own eyes and have experienced in a lifetime.
Actually data analysis shows clearly that U.S. earnings for men and women are equal across job levels when life choices are factored in, ie part time, stay at home mom or dad, number and length of breaks in service, etc. More women then men do make the choices for a more balanced and fulfilling life so it appears to be skewed until you compare apples to apples. But pure equality all the way in the U.S. of A.

Criteria For Exceeds
Yes, being female does help as they are paid less than their male counterparts in the U.S.
Being from India or Poland also helps for the same reason. They get paid less than Americans.
Merger in March!! ??
For -cog, congrats on your accomplishments. If you are a manager, kudos to you for empowering your staff. Sounds like you are one of the few leaders that are actually good at BNY. Maybe Mr. and Ms. bad attitude should have worked for you instead huh?
People come to this site seeking community, solace, and support not logic. To tell them (as one person did) to quit the “bad attitude” posts and proceed to brag about your “exceeds”, “logical work effort” (as if others work illogically and deserve a BE) and “work-life balance” (as if those that give 110 percent to their job are stupid) is not empowering anyone and certainly not an example of a “good attitude” (or manager).
ufl is master of appearance and stagemanship. Interesting that s/he is proud of it, as this is what drives productive people bonkers at the Bank. Maybe it really is all about My Source Social and appearances.
I got exceeds (and four promotions) until my department was acquired by BNY. I was forced to make a lateral move - no promotion, no compensation - to manager. I never saw “exceeds” again. I tolerated that until several reorganizations tripled my team. I was still doing my former job, too. But the worst was company policies that humiliated and demeaned employees. I quit, and am now exceeding expectations at my new job. I will never understand the BNY culture, it seems so counter-productive. Good luck to all!
IN my self-evaluation I got the highest possible rating. In fact I'm the best damned employees at BNYM!
I couldn’t agree more if you are in the range close to 60/20+ years of experience you are in the danger zone and your performance doesn’t matter any more, in my former group which by the way supports critical process for the bank, everyone understands...
To 1nkc ... Perfectly stated!!!!! .
What a dump of a place to work. How anyone works there is beyond me. Horrible out dated company
To cog. What if you do the same: hard work, help others and manager, even more cover manager's butt some times and instead of exceed received BE and separated in 2 week. Is that what you call "bad-attitude posts"?
I work my butt off, believe in my staff, and make my job easier for myself and my manager through logical work effort and work-life balance while empowering others to see how we can help one another through focused and meaningful effort.
That's why I received exceeds.
Threads on this site should be logical. Drop the bad-attitude posts. They don't help anyone.
I got an Exceeds Expectations rating this year. I have no idea why. I don't think I did anything differently than in years past. I cleared out my cube thinking I might get laid off in December, but I guess I'm staying. It'll be interesting to see if this results in more than a 1% raise.
Criteria for Exceeds:
- Nod your head and smile.
- Do not express an opinion.
- Do not challenge.
- Being female helps (D&I agenda).
- Be false and fake.
That how you win play their game. Hard work does not receive the rewards.
Yes I got above exceeds at BNY Mellon. I don't focus much on my actual job performance, I just focus on relationships and how I am viewed in the eyes of other people. As long as people like me, that's all that matters.
