This is some of the stuff our management reminds us of at CDS. How we don’t earn our 30$/hr. Yes when you say 13/hr you’re saying we don’t earn our 30/hr. You sound like a s— a– or someone that’s in management. Just because we make 30/hr doesn’t mean we should be treated like sh–. It k–ls me people compare our benefits with other companies whose benefits s—. At what point do we not stand up and say no it’s not ok to keep losing ground on these damn contracts. With your mindset when NS gets their way and we are paying 800 a month for insurance you’ll be telling us about Jo blo that’s paying 1200 a month and we should be grateful.

If your not willing to go out into the real world and get a non union job, then you should quit b–ching about the union. Either way we get paid about $30/hr to do about $13/hr worth of work, with what is actually pretty good health benefits if you have a family. Some non RR guys I know with families are paying over $800/month just for insurance. The cost of insurance is unreal now days, though I will say it would be nice for the single workers to have a separate cheaper insurance option.

I really think that some of you need laid off for a couple months so you can remember what it is like to have a real job and realize just how good off you have it, which is thanks to the union whether you like it or not.

Why would anyone do that. The railroad will not be under union rule much longer. Just got to sit back and watch.

We live in the land of opportunity. If you don`t like the union, that is fine. Just go get a job elsewhere.
Good luck doing whatever you desire. The railroad is not for everyone.

what are you talking about dumb if a shop goes non union? what does a union do in the public sector now? we collectively bargain exactly what? we pay dues for what higher wages? our wages stagnant for 5 years at a time and other industries are quickly catching up. better benefits? have you had any increase in benefits or reduced cost? any cost savings is directly related to quality of care reductions. better working environment? i think we all know the answer to that. so agin what’s the difference union or non? so in my opinion we get a union at a premium price tag but none of the perks .

All part of Hunter Harrisons plan. If you cant merge....destroy the company from the inside out so they have no choice but to sell the remnants. And The Squires Board of Court Jesters goes for it because they really didnt know what they were doing to begin with. They dont realize the company is being bled for sale or they dont care.

No I think you are wrong. Progress Rail has a full time position there now. NS has scaled down the employee levels in addition to replacing a lot of stuff there in the last few years. The locomotives sitting there are going to be sold to them also either as a rebuild or sc-ap. The sale should be complete by May. Employees are being notified by the end of February

not progress rail. they have facilities already doing NS work now. they haven’t reached capacity and JBS is not in a good location and is falling to the ground now. the place is a dump in a dead city with unskilled overpaid union contracts.

that’s awesome! who’s the buyer? this would be the best thing to happen to JBS. finally rid itself of bad labor contracts and build the best workforce the area can muster.

You have bad info. JBS is not closing. It is being sold. Employees that work there and furloughed employees will have the first chance to apply for the new jobs

Adrian I am sure you are right as usual. This is terrible news. I just bought a brand new 2020 F250and we just bought a new $350,000 house this year! Thank you for letting know ahead of time so we can talk to our bank to see if they can take the home and truck back. In the meantime me and the wife and kids will have to live in our camper.

My source tells me the same except Conway will of course not be on this closing list. It will get all the work from the failing shops especially the lazy inept southern shops that could not put out quality locomotives if they actually even tried. (Which they don’t try because they are to lazy to do so) sorry to hear all of you will be losing your jobs. Try to enjoy your Christmas while you are still employed. It is going to be a great 2020 here in PA!
