Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

How many people were laid off in 2019?

Does anyone have any idea? Just to be clear, I mean the real number of people that have been let go in one way or another, so I would appreciate if there are no comments like : Google it, or check the headcount on the company website….

Earned via striking sacrifices. Not entitlements, unless you mean that I'm entitled to them.

None of those things are earned. Those are entitlements bargained for by the union and in your contract.

"I see by the number of down votes, union entitleds still troll this site in hopes of a lucrative handout that lately, on non represented recieve."
Sure, the non-represented recieve [sic] an, in your words, "lucrative handout".
I still prefer my earned pension, my earned 401k, and any enhancement piled on but, to each his own.

Nothing sarcastic about entitleds sleeping on the job. Its reality.

My guess is zero OP. Seems every incident that I'm personally aware of was a monetarily incentivized, well-compensated, and voluntary separation or, in a few, and very rare, outlier cases, firings for just cause.

How has a layoff (aka, a RIF or an involuntary separation) become confused with either a VSP (management) or an EISP (union), both of which are voluntary and, many might agree, lucrative?
Why the need to turn a blind eye towards the distinction?
OP, was there something else going on besides the option to voluntarily leave with an welcome incentive?

What difference does it make? This was an odd year due to the VSP. About 4-5,000 of the 10,000+ who volunteered left this year in March or June, so the numbers are inflated. Suffice it to say there will always be targeted layoffs but they generally aren't huge segments of the employee base.

10k Comes out in Feb...can look at the HC in the 2018 version compared to 2019...while does not segregate by RIF vs attrition, does show the reduced #... approximately 144,500 employees as of Feb 15, 2019...can search for employee and normally appears on first page after table of contents...
