Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle break up

Rumor has it Oracle is selling off divisions mid April. Telco stack including BRM. Fire sale as Oracle is primarily shedding dead weight and cutting expenses to the bone. Old tech stack getting pruned. Siebel, people soft etc ... out.

Focus is Oracle and cloud apps.

Major announcements before Q4. Oracle has leveraged itself beyond sustainability with Stock buy backs.

Oracle is going to do some major shrinking... packaging up its dead products with skeleton crews for sale.

Also heard changes on this path begin as soon as break is over. Nothing confirmed on my end. No managers have confirmed seeing anything signed by SC.

I didn't hear about any sales, any body?

Yet another made up rumor. Whatever happened to the SEC's "imminent" hammer drop on O?

So much BS on this site.

Looks like part of the Dyn business has been sold/given away... and it was poorly executed.

The On Prem Apps business is doing just fine. EBS/JDE/PSFT/Hyperion. Oracle has committed to extend premier support and enhance these products to min 2030 with a 10 year rolling window. The annual support dollars help keep this company afloat.

If you are sold out of Oracle, they will be happy to have you for a year or so until the other people at the company come up to speed and take your places. That's the way it works.

Nah, O's previous acquisitions still kept plenty of folks around. If you are useful to the company they'll hang on to you.

Some new owner could easily breath new life into some of these products and reverse the trend.

This isn't going to happen. This idea that companies buy c-ap from other companies so they can "breath new life into" them it ridiculous. Companies buy other companies and parts of companies for a quick win. Good press, etc. They don't do it to save anyone or to sink a lot of money in. They just don't do that.

Did you hear it from your Uncle's friend's housecleaner's garbageman?

Nah, it was Conseulo who leaked it.

There are three things to remember.

  1. If they have support revenue they must have customers.
  2. If they have customers they must work, maybe better or maybe worse, but customers are using them.
  3. Oracle with its Cloud focus has been k–ling these products for years. Customer have seen this and customers are reluctant to invest in something they know is going away.

Some new owner could easily breath new life into some of these products and reverse the trend.

I think Oracle knows this and maybe afraid to compete against them, so I wonder if they will really sell them off.

This site is all about unsubstantiated rumors. Whispers in hallways, water cooler gossip. Take it for what its worth.

Haven't you learned yet, deadwood never gets cut. It's the deadwood that makes the decisions. That's why oracle is in the condition it's in.

LJE surely wants to sell the whole damn thing if he could get what he wants.

Few companies are big enough to acquire O. Selling his stock off on the market will make the price collapse. He doesn't have many options.

LJE surely wants to sell the whole damn thing if he could get what he wants. They have artificially been desperately keeping the stock inflated by a massive stock buyback program - all public news:

DEC started lopping off various products and organizations. How did that work out?

Hows' the Rdb team doing these days?

Sounds like Oracle could be turning into DEC. DEC started lopping off various products and organizations. How did that work out?

My question is Who would buy up these deprecated products?

There is a right price for everything. As long as those business units generate a positive cash flow, they have value.

My question is Who would buy up these deprecated products? The only thing they could possibly have going for them would be the support revenue and, no doubt, would be shrinking as people migrate away from these rapidly obsoleting products.

It's already happening with Support reorg'd to product side of the house and many of the VP's & Dir's aren't coming back after the 31st. Also DD, RH are gone - you have to believe that SC will force more cutbacks after she gets the updated headcount numbers.

Good, it's about time the deadwood is cleaned out. Hope they really cut the VP's & Dir's that do nothing and have no people to manager. It's a farce
