Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Combine CEO and COO role - 1st step to savings

These people talk about efficiencies but they don't practice it.
The top 50 wage earners at Weatherford really need to take the hit. We don't need 50 of you, just 10 of you at the most or less. It's about time we follow a flat organization structure - save millions. Top down does not work anymore - no real buy in for change. McKinsey transformation did not work for this very reason and they just readied the company for Chapter 11 and took their money and left.

Wait, you're telling me those 'unfreezing the culture' training classes were a waste of money and time. I'm shocked.

u look at US & Canada that is where most of them are hiding. isn't Canada supposed to be an area of US, as one NAM. so why do we have parallel VP and executives in sales is something beyond logic. ex-sperry drilling halliburton friends taking care of each other, is that it. having yes men in the cabinet. if they have any sense then the layers will be trimmed, but the real question is do they had any?!! lol

I totally agree with Alberta, this has been going on in the Company for years, one guy s—s up and eventually makes it to top management. What do you see after that, all his useless fat buddies are all of a sudden promoted to managerial positions. The whole company then gets run as though it was just the one principle, (because that's all they know), soon the divisions are losing money, but hey that's ok, We'll just move the money around and shore up the loss-makers. Corporate never finds out, nobody is looking and they are all too busy slapping each other on the back and getting ready to climb another rung on the ladder. All too soon the ladder has way too much to support and starts to wobble, let's look at what's wrong below they say. It's gone haywire because the multi discipline company has been run too long as one business model alien to what the divisions need. Now you got all these promoted people who have created a huge one trick pony and don't know how to fix it. The revenues get so poor that you can't keeping movng money because you haven't got it to move so you then blame the problem on the guys at the bottom of the ladder who have slogged along keeping the company going by patching up equipment to get it out the door and somehow keeping the cripple afloat. I feel really sorry seeing what I once regarded as a great company that could have had a brilliant future with good people and the best of equipment. Then the cretins got a foothold and one by one they got up the ladder, some already so fat on company money they could barely step up rung by rung. The higher they got the more problems and cracks appeared but hey ho they were ok making plenty money and laying off when they felt the profits at threat........Weatherford you turned in on yourself and began to eat your tail, but now it's the whole dog going to get swallowed by your own greed !!!!!!......

Absolutely incompetent people running the show. Old school b—s— doesn't work. St executive level these handicapped executives hire consultants to make decisions, spend company money to save their a– and keep failing again and again. This CEO is not the smartest - he was leading responsible for a major takeover in his previous role and messed up big.

The utter hypocrisy in the company is ever present. Countless times we hear that all roles should be advertised but in reality none of the executive roles are. It’s an elitist club, looting the company for as much as they can get before Weatherford gets taken out. The one consolation of the pending sale will be the execs getting shown the door. Good riddance.

a huge majority of people under the CEO are connected in one way or another (ex co-worker, comfortable together, or friends or partners in one way or another). they never post any jobs for senior roles, it's given to the people who would not challenge them. in Canada, there's a young guy who got promoted to the top job in sales and for his last 4-5 promotions no job was ever posted, he was given the jobs on the plate. in fact he has never held any sales job for any product line directly - no experience selling a service to the client, but still able to make it to the top, very interesting. this has made many people angry and they don't say anything because they're afraid of their own jobs. if the job vacancies were posted, he would have faced competition and the kid may not have climbed the ladder that fast. it seems that the organization is run by mafia; only promotes people who will not challenge their managers or reports. we don't see anything better if Weatherford is run in the same manner.

transformation is a joke. especially when you see who are leading them— all directors/managers screwed up the business in the past! All they need to do is to get rid of 2/3 of directors/VPs/SVPs/EVPs, and funniest of all— presidents.

But it will NEVER happen.

Y’all are asleep. We’re getting prepped for a sale. The company won’t make it through 2020 intact. The banks who took the debt write off as part of chapter 11 want their money back and they are calling the shots. CEO and COO (and all of the big dogs) are just along for the payday at this point.

You have to have overlap for vacations etc. You cant have 1 guy running everything. Executives are people too...not machines
