Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

How many door greeters have lost or quit since the desk moved down to the door?

I'm a desk associate and our desk is finally moving. I was wondering how's it going with the door greeters? Most of the door greeters here have refused to have anything to do with the desk. Are other stores having this problem?

Also, how's it going with the desk at the door? Can't imagine it working too well.

A pay to shop club should have great customer service.

As it stands, at Sam's Clubs there's no service, no help whatsoever, heck, you can't even get someone to answer the phone - because there is no one to answer the phone.

The one desk associate can't answer the phone and tap away on those tablets at the same time. It isn't like typing, where the act is mostly muscle memory. It takes a slip more concentration, because of autocorrect and suggestions. So you can't concentrate on solving a members problem on the phone, and tap tablets at the same time.

And doing returns on the tablets?! Half the time, you have to go to the register and search the old way to find a return. What's wrong with those tablets could fill this forum.

And there are times during the day when no one is on the floor. Not one merchandiser available. And even when there is, none of them know anything about televisions, computers, tablets, or any electronic in general.

There's no use wasting time here, Brentonville won't listen. If Cosco came to town, this store would close within the year. It's sunk that far down.

This was a stupid move.. almost as stupid as the jewelry counter they put in.. cases that open from the front ..very dangerous .The register is in the open also .There is no place to work the jewelry so you’re trying to put out thousands of dollars of jewelry right out in the open! Just close the damn thing down already

I worked in clothing and people would come up and touch me all the time it grossed me out. And yes they stink of perfume or BO I would also push around a shopping cart as a barrier between them and me, but most times they would blind side me . Just stay the heck away . Just rude I would never go up to someone and touch them & I have seen it at membership not right.

Exactly. If you haven’t done the math with all the moves they are phasing as many long term desk and door stool sitters out the door as possible.

There is no need for 2 desk associates and an entrance door greeter anymore except on peak hours on the weekend.

Half the people that were coming to the desk before were coming for club pickup.

You guys don't get it. The other person who commented was right. There will be no more associates at the desk soon. You won't have to worry about your personal space. Just s— it up for now. Soon enough you will all be working the floor.

Seriously, how close to we have to be to a member in order to be accessible?! Put the barrier back. Me? I've put a cart on one side of me, for returns. I need space to open a register full of money.

Personal space. What personal space? Members up our a–, some so stinky, makes you gag. No sense of privacy gor members either. And only one register....people just don't like having to wait for their cash returns or to make credit payments. Such an ill thought out plan. I understand they want us more accessable to the member, but have not taken into consideration our safety.

Don't worry guys it won't be forever. Unfortunately this is just a step closer to there being no associates at the membership desk. Your position will change to being a merchandiser. Could be this February, April, October... Whenever they feel like it's time to pull the plug. One thing we all know is that the desk will not be ready. They always make the change before the bugs/problems are fixed. Yay Sam's!

But, this isn't going to be happening, At least according to our manager, when she was asked. We must have had six heads and were riding unicorns with the look we got.

Our door greeters do not do anything at the desk. The desk does give them breaks and lunch. Basically desk associates do door, pick-up,photo pick-ups ,go-backs and anything else that is asked.

It is a disaster. I am a door greeter and the schedule is a disaster. Scheduled 12-8:30 and then they tell us we have to stay until the store is cleaned up so it is no longer eight hours but 91/2 hours. To top it off six days straight and the store manager is tired of hearing from me.

Our door greeters still dont know how to work desk. None have quit yet. The new desk set up is horrendous. Members complain nonstop, and we have ZERO space. The back of my ankles have been slammed by carts so many times and these members are ALL OVER US. Literally..touching us. I had a tall guy put his hands on my shoulders and look over my head at the tablet while I pulled up his membership, another girl I work with had some lady reach out and grab one of the earrings she was wearing and started spinning it saying how much she loved it. Every single one of us are uncomfortable with the lack of space and barrier between us and the members.
