Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

How many?

How many clubs will be closed between now and the end of January 2020? How many associates will be out of work without notice? What surprise plans have the corporate brass laid out for us prior to the end of the fiscal year? Will some of us show up to work only to find locked doors as we did a couple of years ago? Maybe they'll try to fool us by pushing their changes back another quarter. Or two. How many fewer will be around one year from now? How many more positions will be eliminated? How many more long termers will find themselves "displaced".

Beware of surprise meetings, announcements, or corporate visits. Beware of sudden changes in on-hand levels. Pay attention to what is going on around you.

They must get a special sadistic kind of pleasure out of watching their work be revealed because of the way they tend to roll it out.

Happy New Year and good luck to all.

@jfa I'm pretty sure those meetings are to go over changes coming February 1st. Hold onto your diapers! It's going to get messy!

As unfortunate as this could be it will also be a blessing is disguise. My club was one of the mass closings. I didn't feel like I was done too badly. Yes they do it unexpectedly, but I was also paid for 60 days after that. I used that opportunity to look for another job. I found one in 2 weeks. So I was not only getting a paycheck from Sam's, I was also getting paid from my new job (not in retail). Then I had severance along with income tax taking place. So I was able to have a nice amount of money in my account. With everything I think I had at least $10,000. My husband and I took a nice mini vacation, and I love my new job. Though it s—s having your club close, it is also at a great time of year. Plus everyone is hiring right now. It's like a win win. Think about it when making your decision to stay or leave. I left and it was the best decision. I'm so much happier.

If everyone gets bump up to 15 a hour like rumored I can see Club closings and down sizing of staff in rest of the Clubs
