Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Has anyone taken their issues to HR? I did.

Lack of communication, no 1x1s, supervisor missing, etc etc. I was told by HR to apply internally for another position if I’m not happy.

What. A. Joke.

That tells me right there that HR knows what’s going on and doesn’t care either.

HR has nothing to do with ratings. They are not going to assist you in any way to find a job or give guidance against the company. The BS on the the HUB is just that BS. They only give advice to Management about how to deal with employees in regards to policy. The heads of the company determine hiring / layoffs / budgets. They determine if there will be a hiring freeze / backfill or no backfill, or a hold on promotions like what is going on now. You know their names. It is up to you to find a new job if you are fed up with UHG. Lets be honest, they do not give adequate raises, bonuses, or benefits in relation to a lot of other companies. But you have to get a job at one of the other companies / industries. If they have trouble hiring capable people to replace you and they start losing profits that will be the only way they may change their practices. But absolutely do not count on that occurring anytime soon and in fact it may go the opposite way.

Wake up and get real!!! HR doesn’t help at all! If that’s your definition of neutral then whatever. I don’t know what kind of world you live in but if you think everyone can just freely get up and leave if their unhappy then you’re mistaken. You’re not the first person I’ve seen on this site saying it either which seems so bizarre to me.

It’s not the point about HR being neutral. They are not. They just simply don’t care. There are bullying behaviors as well as ignoring bosses when you have requests. That should concern HR. If HR demands someone be forced to get 3,2,or 1 that means it’s a flawed system of rating employees even if all are good employees. Yes we can leave. But what if we have left and have been blacklisted such that every job we apply for is ignored? Maybe it’s a bigger issue than just happiness since you may not be able to find jobs as easily as is expected

HR is a neutral party. If you are not getting the response you like, maybe it’s your outlook that is wrong. No one is forced to stay in the role or with this company. If you are unhappy, find somewhere you are. It’s your life and your job, work to find your own happiness instead of trying to get someone else to change.

Take a look at Evolent Health. It is a relatively new company that provides Optum like Analytics to large Healthcare Organizations. It is Optum without the Evil.

Call HR and you will get these 2 responses "the rules in your dept are based upon departmental needs" and. " the rules are based upon manager discretion " it's their 2 commandments, as they pray to the almighty God of UHC....lol

Yes! They think they are untouchable as a company. But go to other lay-off sites. They all unanimously agree UHG is the worst. Call HR and it’s spun around on you as if it’s you. It’s so wrong. But staff like me can’t help it because I feel compelled to report what goes wrong. Nevertheless I am no longer there so they don’t value vocal employees. They like you either totally silent in meetings or manic over the top “positivity” chipper. Sorry you had that experience with HR but it’s universal. Employees hate their life yet feel unable to express problems to those who are supposed to help. Perhaps if employees quit caring they will all call HR. Generally speaking, how Sad is it how tight all of us cling to jobs we don’t even like (more often hate) just for a regular paycheck isn’t it???
